COVID-19 Travel Guidelines Reminder for Easter

With the number of COVID-19 cases rising in the surrounding area, the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government urges all Listuguj residents to stay local this Easter. Before making plans to shop or travel, please keep in mind that the Bas Saint-Laurent region in Quebec will be classified as a Red Zone as of 9:00 p.m. tonight and should be avoided. This region includes cities such as Rimouski, Amqui and Matane. Visit the Quebec Alert Levels Map for more details.

All COVID-19 Travel Guidelines listed here still apply.

Remember to always wear a mask in public, continue practicing social distancing, proper cough etiquette, and good hygiene practices.

Survey – Mi’gmaw Language Home Kit Pilot Project

In early 2021, the Mi’gmaw Language Revitalization Program introduced the Mi’gmaw Language Home Kit Pilot Project. 200 Mi’gmaw Language Home Kits were distributed on a first come, first served basis, due to a limited amount of kits. With this initiative, the Mi’gmaw Language Revitalization & Culture Project Coordinator would like community members feedback on the Mi’gmaw Language Home Kits. Furthermore, the feedback from this survey will help guide the creation of the next Mi’gmaw Language Home Kit.

Thank you for participating in the survey. To show our appreciation, you will be entered into a draw to win a gift basket.

If you have any questions about the survey, you can email migmawrevitalization@listuguj.ca.

Community Notice – Changes to New Brunswick Travel Restrictions

We welcome and are encouraged by Premier Higgs’ recent announcement whereby Listuguj (as well as the Avignon and Témiscouata regions) will be included in the New Brunswick Bubble starting April 19, 2021. Please keep in mind that this is conditional to New Brunswick’s cases of COVID-19 remaining low. Residents planning to travel into New Brunswick must not have travelled outside of those regions within the last 14 days OR must have received the first dose of the vaccine at least 14 days prior.

Although we must remain vigilant in following Public Health guidelines, this long-awaited announcement will reunite Listuguj members with family on either side of the bridge. Please stay tuned for more details.

Listuguj Community Greenhouse Survey Contest

In order to encourage building a stronger and more sustainable economy for Listugujewaq for the next seven generations to come, Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is implementing a food sovereignty initiative by introducing the Listuguj Greenhouse Project. This will extend the current Listuguj Community Garden’s capacity to provide nutritious and organic sources of produce from seasonal to all year-round.

This sustainable agriculture initiative is the first step to addressing food insecurity within Listuguj by maintaining food self-sufficiency using green energy sources. Whether it be by encouraging community members to learn how to grow their own food through workshops, facility tours, and distributions by subscription food boxes and produce donations.

The SurveyMonkey questionnaire created below for the Listuguj Greenhouse Project will be used to gather important information and insight in regards to the intended produce to be grown, learning opportunities, community activities, & typical household grocery budget.

Paper versions of this survey can also be picked up at the post office & the completed surveys can be dropped off at the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government’s Administration Reception.
