Listuguj Artist Network and Directory Survey

Are you a Listugujewaq artist/artisan?  Listuguj Tourism is launching this survey to learn how to best meet the needs of artists/artisans and create a positive impact in the community through arts and culture. Would you be interested in becoming part of a network or directory?  This network would be to connect artists to opportunities, promote collaboration, voice any needs, create new projects, etc. The artist directory on the LMG website also needs to be updated, so we can connect artists with various opportunities, whether it be funding, events, or other projects.

Listuguj Community Greenhouse Survey Contest

In order to encourage building a stronger and more sustainable economy for Listugujewaq for the next seven generations to come, Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is implementing a food sovereignty initiative by introducing the Listuguj Greenhouse Project. This will extend the current Listuguj Community Garden’s capacity to provide nutritious and organic sources of produce from seasonal to all year-round.

This sustainable agriculture initiative is the first step to addressing food insecurity within Listuguj by maintaining food self-sufficiency using green energy sources. Whether it be by encouraging community members to learn how to grow their own food through workshops, facility tours, and distributions by subscription food boxes and produce donations.

The SurveyMonkey questionnaire created below for the Listuguj Greenhouse Project will be used to gather important information and insight in regards to the intended produce to be grown, learning opportunities, community activities, & typical household grocery budget.

Paper versions of this survey can also be picked up at the post office & the completed surveys can be dropped off at the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government’s Administration Reception.

Shop Listuguj This Holiday Season

As part of the Economic Development Unit’s effort to support businesses, we are launching a #ShopListuguj Campaign.

The #ShopListuguj Campaign is the perfect time to explore how our beautiful community contributes to the local economy.  Many of our local businesses offer products from unique Indigenous handcrafted items to decorating ideas, and gift cards. Some also offer gift certificates for their unique services, which you can give to friends and every member of your family.

A majority of our small businesses are locally owned and operated, and supporting our own entrepreneurs in the community is a win-win situation, as it helps our own Mi’gmaq people as well as retaining money in the community.

Look for products made locally, as well as those that are being sold by local Mi’gmaq because we will be drawing a $100 gift certificate for anyone who uses the #ShopListuguj hashtag on either Facebook or Instagram. Please make sure your posts are public.  Since we want to maintain a healthy positive community, excluded purchases such as alcohol, tobacco and cannabis items will not be accepted.

Business Needs Assessment – Economic Development Community Notice

Are you a current Listuguj business-owner or an entrepreneur looking for more assistance to achieve your business goals?

The Economic Development Unit has been actively strategizing ways we can support our current economic environment, as well as, discovering ways to provide new or enhanced opportunities for Listuguj business owners and entrepreneurs.

These areas include, but are not limited to: marketing, financial, access to capital, business planning, training, and administrative advice and support.

This survey ultimately will help describe the current needs of our economy. Specifically, what support and assistance would be helpful to current Listuguj business owners and entrepreneurs.

For those who fill out the Listuguj Business Needs Assessment, there will be an option to enter a draw for a chance to win a $150.00 MasterCard gift card. March Pop Up Contest – Listuguj Mi’gmaq Community Plan

It’s just about that time again! I’m getting ready to host my March Pop Up Contest (which will be on Monday March 9th). If you didn’t see me last month, I will be targeting different areas in the community this time around. The pop up contest is to help educate community members on the LMCP (Listuguj Mi’gmaq Community Plan) and help promote items from the plan that departments/programs are doing.

I’m asking all community programs, departments or organizations to please reach out if you have anything you would like me to help promote! Anything you and/or your team is doing that supports our LMCP. Remember, our four action areas are:

–        Healthy Community

–        Environmental and Natural Resource Stewardship

–        Entrepreneurship & Employment

–        Mi’gmaw Laws and Governance

Watch out for my promo on the LMG Facebook page and community radio stations that will include the answers to my questions coming next week! Have a great end of February.
