Lita Isaac, Community Culture Instructor
The Arts and Cultural Center is located at the Education Complex. Here you will find a collection of baskets, quillwork, regalia, canoes and authentic Mi’gmaq artifacts, which range from 500 years to 3000 years old and many other items.
The Residential School Survivors meet on Monday nights and together they make crafts and socialize. From September to June, night classes for community members are held every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30 PM. For a small class fee you can learn to make various items such as: moccasins, mitts, mandalas, dreamcatchers, etc.
Arts and Crafts are also taught at the local schools, including Sugarloaf Senior High School, Campbellton Learning Center, Listuguj Alternative Learning Center, Campbellton Middle School and Lord Beaverbrook School.
The Center is open Monday to Friday from 8:30- 11:00 and 1:00- 3:30 and on Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm. During the summer months, the center serves as headquarters for the Listuguj Pow-Wow.
