The LMCP Spotlight is to encourage community members to know and implement the LMCP. One of the main purposes behind the initiative is to recognize hard work and showcase that the plan is comprehensive. The entire community together will make it successful.

Requirements: The nominee must be a Listuguj Band member and must be highlighting one of the LMCP’s 4 action areas.

Changes to NB Essential Travel

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government would like to advise residents of recent changes to the New Brunswick Mandatory Order that will come into effect on Friday, October 30th, 2020 at midnight. These changes include new conditions for travel as well as clarification on the definition of essential services.

Residents of Listuguj First Nation [and Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec] must restrict travel to Restigouche County, and travel between hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Atlantic Time. Travel to Restigouche County is restricted to a maximum of twice per week (excluding urgent medical care).

Please note that these changes will not affect residents travelling for work purposes or for dialysis appointments. We urge all Listuguj residents travelling to Restigouche County for essential goods and services to plan each of their trips accordingly. Maximize each trip by getting as many of your essentials as possible.

The definition of essential goods and services now includes:

  • Necessities of life (e.g. groceries, clothing, etc.) and supporting services (e.g. butchers for hunted game);
  • Health care (e.g. prescriptions, medical equipment & supplies, etc.). Health care travelers may be accompanied by a support person;
  • Goods and services required for work or employment;
  • Banking and financial institutions;
  • Transportation (e.g. automobile repair);
  • Animal care; and
  • Funerals and visitations of deceased immediate family members.

If you have any questions or require assistance with your travel registration, please contact Christy Metallic, Administrative Support Clerk, at 418-788-2136 or christy.metallic@listuguj.ca.

Listuguj Veterans Memorial Committee Update

The Listuguj Veterans Memorial Committee (LVMC) has met and decided that due to the community safety risks surrounding COVID-19 there will be no community dinner held this year on November 11, 2020.

Instead, to honor the veterans this year, the committee has decided to develop a 2021 calendar that will feature our veterans.

If you wish to have a family members or friend who is a Listuguj veteran featured in the calendar, please send all pictures to the email listugujveterans@gmail.com. Please include with the picture:

1)      the full name of the veteran

2)      the name of the war they fought in, and

3)      any other information you wish to highlight (ie. Rank, honors, etc.).

Additionally, on November 11, 2020, from 11:00am to 3:00pm, the LVMC will be hosting an event where community members can bring their personal photos of community veterans and have them scanned to be featured in the calendar. The event will take place at the Veterans Memorial Building on Pacific Drive, across from the LMDC building. Please note, only 1 person will be allowed into the building at a time. All COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of masks, hand sanitizing, and social distancing must be respected.

We thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to continuing honoring and memorializing our community veterans in the years to come.

On behalf of the Listuguj Veterans Memorial Committee,

Thank you
