Housing Communication Initiative – House Number Registration

All households in Listuguj are required to fill out a form to register your address to update the civic address list. Once registered, you will have a chance to win 1 of 10 $100 gift cards from Kent.

The Capital & Infrastructure department are in the process of working on a housing communication initiative funded by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).  Part of this program is to purchase civic numbers for all the housing units in our community. We plan on having them installed this summer.  There will be an announcement on LMG’s website, Facebook and the local radio stations for the date we will start the installation process.

Starting Monday, March 1, applications will be available for the community at the following locations:

  • The Band Office
  • Natural Resource Building
  • Post Office
  • LMG Website, download here

Listuguj Police Department Emergency Line Working

After experiencing technical difficulties this morning, the emergency phone line at the Listuguj Police Department (LPD) is back on. This is a reminder that the LPD primary emergency number is 418-788-2003 and will be answered by police patrol members. The administrative line (non-emergency) is 418-788-2334 and is answered during business hours – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday – by civilian administrative members. It is important to have both numbers saved for quick access.

Council Meeting Update – February 24, 2021

On February 24, 2021, Chief and Council had a duly convened meeting in Council Chambers. Included below are important updates from today’s meeting:

  • Chief and Council accepted a 2.6-Million-dollar agreement with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to build 16 affordable housing units through CMHC’s Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI). Under the RHI, Listuguj intends to build (10) single unit houses and (2) triplexes within Listuguj.
  • Chief and Council accepted an agreement to develop, upgrade, and build water quality capacity within Listuguj Lands. This includes the development of additional infrastructure within ‘Listuguj Hills’.
  • Chief and Council participated in a strategic planning session with members from executive leadership. Through this session, leadership held a roundtable discussion on interdisciplinary files on what the collective vision is for the future (e.g., finance, administration and economic development).

Time: 9am – 3:30pm (both days)

Note: Due to pandemic and potential graduates unable to get pictures done at their school the LETE will cover the cost of sitting fees this year.

Important Update from the Community Kitchen

Please note that the Community Kitchen will be implementing the following changes starting this week.

The community kitchen will now be open from 10 am – 12 pm for Elders aged 65 and up only and then from 1 pm – 4 pm for all other clients. This will allow for shorter wait times and decrease the traffic on food bank days.

In order to continue safely operating the community kitchen on a bi-weekly basis, the number of clients allowed in the waiting area is 10 people. Should you arrive at the community kitchen and the waiting area is full, please come back at a later time. With the cold weather, we do not want anyone waiting outside.

10 am to noon – clients 65 and older only

1 pm to 4 pm – all other clients

Don’t forget to bring your own bags.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Listuguj has received our first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. More vaccines will be arriving soon!

If you’re interested in getting the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and have not yet registered, please contact the Listuguj Community Health Services (LCHS) at (418) 788-2155. You must be 18 years of age or older to register.

The LCHS has created a vaccine priority schedule to ensure our most vulnerable can receive the vaccine first. The Listuguj COVID-19 Vaccine Roll-out Schedule is included below.

Group #1:     Critical workers, including Health & Social Services workers with direct contact with clients AND Elders aged 80+ (born before 1939);

Group #2:     Elders between the ages of 60 – 79;

Group #3:     Individuals under the age of 60 living with chronic illness(es);

Group #4:     Essential workers and LMG employees; and

Group #5:     Balance of adult population age 18+.

 

Listuguj High School Households – Want to share your point of view?

The Listuguj Education, Training and Employment (LETE) is conducting a survey to hear from parents (guardians and caregivers) of Listuguj high school students.

The purpose of this survey is to hear your views, experiences and feelings about your child(ren)’s experiences and feelings about high school, pre-COVID and right now. The LETE will use the results from this survey as part of its ongoing work to strengthen and improve its educational services for Listuguj students. The results will be shared with community.

This survey is anonymous, and it does not need to be filled out entirely. Your participation is voluntary, but much appreciated.  Please fill out one survey per household.

As a way to say thank you for participating, you can give your name and contact information to Bobbi Madahbee (Enhancement Manager) and your name will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of two gift cards valued at 50$ each.
