Community Notice for Nomination of Candidates

 

On Saturday April 26, 2014 a community meeting was held to nominate individuals for Chief and Council for the upcoming election. Nominations were made in person along with mail-in nominations, which resulted in seven candidates nominated for the position of Chief and 48 candidates for the positions of council.

It is important to note that this is an Unofficial List and candidates have the opportunity to withdraw from this upcoming election at their discretion.  

Here is the Unofficial List of candidates running for office in this upcoming election.

The Official List will be released at a later date.

Listuguj Diabetes Awareness Workshop

Listuguj Diabetes Awareness Workshop

 

There will be a diabetes awareness workshop held on May 5-6 at the Listuguj Youth Center. The workshop will take place from 9 am until 4:30 pm lunch will be served both days for those in attendance. There will also be prizes to be won such as an IPad along with Sobeys and Subway gift cards.

Notice of Nomination Meeting

Notice is hereby given that a meeting for the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation eligible voters will be held at the Listuguj Community Development Center (Bingo Hall), 42 Dundee Road in Listuguj on Saturday April 26, 2014, beginning at 1:00pm and lasting for at least three hours. The purpose of this meeting is to nominate candidates for the positions of (1) Chief and (12) Councillors on the Band Council of the Listuguj Band, for the ensuing term.

Note that any voter may nominate a candidate by using a mail-in nomination form. You may either deliver or mail-in a written nomination and a completed, signed and witnessed voter declaration form to the Electoral Officer before the time set for the nomination meeting OR you may nominate candidates in person at the nomination meeting. Mailed nominations not received by the Electoral Officer before the time set for the nomination meeting are considered VOID.

On April 4, 2014 Damien Arsenault, Candidate running in the Provincial Election will be in Listuguj at the Listuguj Community Development Center (Bingo Hall) from 2-3pm. He would like to invite all community members to attend this meet and greet so that he can answer your questions and hear your concerns from the people of Listuguj.

Also please note that the provincial elections will be held on April 7, 2014 at the Listuguj Community development Center (Bingo Hall). The polls will open at 10:30 am and close at 9pm. We are also encouraging all community to vote.

Listuguj Winter Mini Pow Wow

The Listuguj Winter Pow Wow will take place on Saturday March 8, 2014 at the Listuguj Community Development Center (Bingo Hall).

Doors will open to Vendors at 9 a.m. with the Grand Entry at noon.

There will be three drum groups in attendance Spirit Bear from Listuguj, Lone Cry (P.E.I) and Windy Grass (Presque Isle, Maine) and all dancers are welcomes to come out and participate.
