Introducing John Alexander Director of Finance
John Alexander grew up in Fredericton and attended Mount Allison University where he met his fiancé Alexa Elias. After a brief stint in Saint John, John, Alexa and their son Charles moved to Northern New Brunswick to work for the local accounting firm in early 2013. John, Alexa and Charles currently reside in Dalhousie.
After graduating from Mount Allison University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, John was subsequently hired by Pricewaterhouse Coopers in the auditing division. John passed the Uniform Evaluation, the dreaded 13 hour comprehensive final examination in 2013 with the highest mark in Eastern Canada, winning the 2013 Governor General’s Gold Medal Award, placing on the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Honor Roll as well as the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy David Hope Honor Roll. John officially completed his professional experience portion of the Chartered Accountant designation in July 2014 and became a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants in September 2014.
John was working on the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government audit as an auditor when the position of Director of Finance became available. “It was an incredible opportunity for me even though I knew it would be a lot of work. I wouldn’t have taken this job if I didn’t think I could make a difference” said John. During his time in public accounting, John has gained experience in the Public sector, Private sector, First Nation and Paper and Pulp industries.
His goals are to bring stability to the financial situation at the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government and increase the effectiveness of the services provided to the community.
“To be given an opportunity to work for the Listuguj First Nation is an honor I do not take for granted. There is so much potential in this community”– John Alexander
