Summary of Function:

The Community Health Nurse/Home Care Nurse, the incumbent functions within the mandate for the LCHS Nursing Program to provide support for the prevention of disease and promotion of Health. The Community Health Nurse works to promote an integrated, holistic health service that is responsive to the needs of the clients. This includes services and/or activities in the following health areas: Home & Community Care, Community Clinic, and Immunization Program. Local travel is required.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Community Public Health Programs and Services;
  • Develop and maintain good relations with outside health agencies; private Physicians and Public Health Agencies;
  • Participates in case conferences, LCHS Staff Meetings, and meetings relating specifically to the Nursing Program.
  • Provide Clinical Nursing services to community members in collaboration with LCHS Nursing staff, MD, NP and other health professionals.
  • Provide assistance to the Immunization Program with the execution of the program activities / requirements.
  • Assist with the delivery of other LCHS programs and activities, i.e. Annual Community Wellness Fair, Flu Clinics, etc.
  • Keeps current with new policies/procedures as indicated within their own professional expertise.
  • Completing and evaluating Multi-Clientele Assessment Tool (MCAT)
  • Responsible to provide comprehensive nursing care to clients and families as outlined through the Eligibility Review Committee (ERC)
  • Formulate and implement a plan for the nursing care function of clients
  • Support and advocate on behalf of client in accessing health services through external resources including placement process for long-term care
  • Provides teaching / counseling to individuals and families as related to the clients nursing care plan
  •  Provides teaching as required to direct service workers in relation to the client service plan
  • Adhere to reporting schedule for month end data reports for submission to the Home Care Data Base Entry Clerk and Nurse-In-Charge
  • Responsible for providing treatment services including wound care, medication administration and management, palliative care, specimen collection post operative care, etc.)

Summary of Function:

The Child Care Worker is asked to be self-motivated, energetic, and responsible. They are to work in a dynamic team environment, assist in designing and delivering cohesive programming (i.e. activities, workshops, etc.) with children ages 4-6 and parents/guardians that reside within the community. Child Care Workers help to develop and promote healthy lifestyles and active living through sports, recreation, educational workshops, etc. The Child Care Worker will act as a role model by demonstrating healthy lifestyles, healthy eating, and physical activity. They are to provide guidance to the children and parents/guardians, support and help promote self-esteem, confidence, and leadership.

Job Duties:

  • Build Meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with the children and parents/guardians who attend the Muin Ji’j Center and are encouraged to use supportive strategies when helpful (ie. crisis intervention, problem solving)
  • Lead programs in a positive and professional manner
  • Monitors and engages in all programming (ie. Recreational, sports and leisure activities), while ensuring safety (ex. Providing supervision, responding to emergencies and/or providing first assistance when required)
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas and common spaces o (ex. Cleaning up after activities and placing items back in their rightful place, sanitizing equipment after use, etc.)
  • Maintaining consistency and structure by abiding to and enforcing Muin Ji’j Center’s regulations and expectations

Summary of Function:
The Chief of Police is a management position that provides leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight to the Listuguj Police Department, which is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws and building strong relationships within the community. The Chief of Police ensures that timely and quality police services are provided in the community of Listuguj and ensures that the Listuguj Police Department provides the services as set out by LMG and other governmental authorities.

Job Duties:
• Oversee all operations of the LPD and support staff ensuring efficiency and compliance with relevant laws and policies.
• Developing and implementing Council-approved policing policies, procedures and training programs(including a professional training plan) as well as relevant manuals and activities, including adopting operational directives that comply with the Manual of Police Practices provided to the LPD by the MSP, and adapting them to the cultural and local realities of the community, in accordance with the applicable statutes and regulations.
• Identifying training needs for Listuguj Police Officers and designing or selecting training programs which can specifically address those needs; participating in the design, provision and evaluation of training courses.
• Manage budgets, funding applications, and resource allocation for effective delivery of policing services.
• Complying with and ensuring that the LPD and its members comply with the Code of Ethics of Québec Police Officers (R.S.Q. c. P-13.1, r.1), the Model for the Regulations on Internal Discipline and provisions applicable to criminal allegation cases, including enforcing the Regulations on Internal Discipline, especially where it concerns the receipt, review, and handling of complaints regarding conduct of a police officer of the LPD..
• Ensuring that the provision of continuous, timely, and consistent policing services to the community of Listuguj.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant local, provincial and federal reporting requirements.
• Ensuring that pertinent information is registered with the Centre de resignments policiers du Québec (CRPQ) according to the procedure agreed upon with Surete Quebec (SQ).

Summary of Function:

The Listuguj Youth and Family Center is seeking to employ an energetic, self-motivated and responsible individual as an Intervention Support Worker. The Intervention Support Worker will work under the direct supervision of the Listuguj Youth and Family Center Program Coordinators. The Intervention Support Worker is responsible for providing one-on-one support to participants presenting with behavioral challenges as well as those on the spectrum who may require extra support. Verbal interventions and co-regulation will be used as a means of helping return participants to their baseline during periods of dysregulation and motivate them to continue engaging in the activities being presented in our programs, services and supports. The Intervention Support Worker will provide services within the directorate with additional support to help prevent as much as possible disruptions in programming as well as to enhance participants’ overall experience in our programs.

Job Duties:

  • Be a positive role model and build meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with the children and youth who attend various programming and implement appropriate intervention strategies when deemed necessary (i.e. Crisis intervention, problem-solving, conflict resolution, etc.)
  • Individualized mentoring and supervision using various strategies and tools aimed at motivating and assisting participants presenting with special needs or behavioral challenges in engaging in daily planned activities (i.e. emotion regulation, behavior management, etc.)
  • Facilitate participant learning individually and in small groups, motivate participants regarding their academics (i.e. homework help)
  • Communicate and collaborate with supervisors/managers to best serve participants who may present challenges
  • Assist participants and their guardians requiring extra support in establishing routines, organizational skills
  • Assist participants in identifying any barriers that may prevent them from engaging in planned activities
  • Provide direction to participants and/or participants’ guardians to further seek support and/or resources as needed

Summary of Function:

Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is seeking an energetic, focused individual as a Cook/Housekeeper to facilitate the timely and accurate production of meal deliveries that meet general and individual dietary requirements. The Cook/Housekeeper will follow requirements provided by dietary services management and will be required to perform light household duties at the Gignu unit. The Cook adheres to all policies and regulations for safety, hygiene and facility food preparation guidelines.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assure that the presentation of all menu items adhere to established standards.
  • Prepare meals on menus; based on nutritional programs and individual plans.
  • Ensure the quality of meals in regards to taste, presentation and dietary requirements established by the dietician/nutritionist.

Summary of Function:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall building systems, facility and grounds maintenance, health & safety, waste management and pest control to achieve exacting standards of operations, service, cleanliness, and sanitation in accordance with quality management, legislative requirements, and the organization standards. Performs regular inspections to ensure that appearance and cleanliness standards are maintained, and that equipment is functioning properly.

Job Duties:

  • Supervise the Maintenance of the facility, and all team members in environmental services department.
  • Plans, co-ordinates, directs and monitors the effectiveness of all operational activities within the maintenance and housekeeping maintenance departments.
  • Develop and perform weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance for all building systems to ensure that facility equipment is operating efficiently to specifications.
  • Respond to after-hours emergency situations when called by the Administrator or other emergency responders. Provide immediate assessment and attention to critical situations such as loss of power, lightning strikes, power surges, fire alarms and other emergency system breakdowns.
  • Perform and/or ensure repairs and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems, security systems, building emergency systems and back-up generator system.
  • Planning, directing, training, assigning and scheduling work assignments for the team members of the environmental services department including evaluating job performance on an annual and ongoing basis, interviewing, and hiring team members, and implementing disciplinary actions where appropriate.
  • Monitor and schedule preventative maintenance on all kitchen systems, exhaust vents and equipment in coordination with Food Services Supervisor.
  • Perform or coordinate all repair and maintenance work to comply with code standards. Facilitates department budgets including ensuring sufficient resources/equipment are available through budget preparation, maintenance, and the hiring of appropriate and adequate staffing levels.
  • Maintaining the building (includes equipment, furnishings and fixtures) in a clean and sanitary good state of repair.
  • Maintaining the external grounds; oversees waste management program for the facility.
  • Ensuring the timely and efficient laundering of linen and residents’ personal clothing.
  • Supporting the fire safety program for the facility.
  • Administering the quality assurance program for the maintenance and housekeeping services. Supports and participates in quality initiatives by providing input and suggestions for improvement, reporting feedback to immediate supervisor.
  • Managing and overseeing the routine and preventative maintenance program for the facility.
  • Ensure invoices are approved and sent to Finance according to set policies.
  • Directs and administers the maintenance and housekeeping services to provide a clean, attractive, aesthetically pleasing and safe environment for residents, team members and visitors to the facility.
  • Manages the pest control program.
  • Manages the electronic maintenance program ensuring all work orders, equipment, preventative maintenance records and requisitions are tracked and executed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and prevailing best practices related to building systems, maintenance and housekeeping.
  • WHMIS training would be considered an asset.
  • Background in a building trade is an asset with the ability to read and interpret building prints and drawings.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certification preferred.
  • Computer skills including Excel/Word/Outlook.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
