Summary of Function:

The Social Services Directorate is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and responsible candidate to work in a dynamic team environment, assist in carrying out activities with the community youth to develop and promote healthy lifestyles, and active living through sports and recreation. Act as a role model by demonstrating healthy lifestyles, healthy eating, and physical activity. Provide guidance to the youth and support and developing their self-esteem and confidence and leadership skills through recreational activities.

Job Duties:

  • Build Meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with the children and youth who attend the center and implement appreciative intervention strategies when deemed necessary (i.e. Crisis intervention, problem-solving, etc.)
  • Lead programs in a positive and professional manner.
  • Monitors and engages in all programming (i.e. Recreational, sports and leisure activities), while ensuring safety (ex. Providing supervision, responding to emergencies and/or providing first assistance when required)
  • Participating in the evaluation and in documenting the progress of the Youth Centre Program
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas and common spaces (ex. Cleaning up after activities and placing items back in their rightful place, sanitizing equipment after use, etc.)
  • Maintaining consistency and structure by abiding to and enforcing Youth Centre regulations and expectations
  • Maintain a log of the Youth Centre’s activities and any incidents that may occur during the Youth Worker Shift.
  • Assist with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practices.
  • Remain flexible (i.e. willingness to learn new skills and enhance professional development)
  • Attend staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as required.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends.
  • Experience/knowledge of child development and working with children and youth.
  • Experience in sports and recreational fields is essential.
  • High School Graduate: Certificate in child/youth work would be an asset.

Summary of Function:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for auditing the company’s financial plans and policies, accounting practices, the conduct of company relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, advising on tax matters and the preparation of financial reports. This position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.

Job Duties:

  • Auditing of books of account (including but not limited to preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash).
  • Oversee issuing of checks / payment of invoices.
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly financial statements for project staff, Executive Director and Board of Directors.

  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts (bank and brokerage accounts).
  • Exert care and control over assets and records and establish procedures for safeguarding, including security and computer backup (copy virus checked and stored off-site).
  • Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issues.
  • Provide technical support (including software updates, troubleshooting and back-ups).
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impact on the organization’s books of account.

Summary of Function:

The Personal Care Worker contributes an important role within the Waqatasg Nursing Program Team.  They are responsible for aiding with the daily routines to residents along with activities of daily living. The Personal Care Worker will ensure that all services are provided in a caring and respectful way in keeping with all relevant policies and procedures. Work directly with all staff of the Waqatasg Nursing Program in the delivery of services identified within the client’s individual care plan and work directly with clients and family members to meet the needs in the plan.

 

Job Duties:

  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as tidying residents’ rooms and collecting the garbage, cleaning closets, hanging clothing, making beds, cleaning wash basins, dental care cups, etc.
  • Must be willing to do shift work.
  • Answer call bells and redirect when appropriate.  Provide items of comfort, sitting with residents/clients and having purposeful conversations, etc.
  • Assisting with the residents’ dining experience under the direction of the Nurse, including, but not limited to; Escort residents to and from dining areas and setting up and clearing tables, pouring beverages, and delivering meals to residents.
  • Assist and support resident programming such as but not limited to; Recreational Programs, Visitation Program, assist in the preparation and cleanup of activities rooms and visiting areas.
  • Assist clients with different outings and activities.
  • Follow medical instructions carefully and consistently.
  • Make recommendations for changes and improvements for the Individual Care Plan as required.
  • Provide information to other health care professionals, when requested.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Completed the Institutional and Home Care Assistance Program and/or previous experience in senior care, group homes, caring for a family member/friend is an asset.
  • Must be willing to gain training related to the role.

School Bus Driver

Summary of Function:

The School Bus Driver is responsible for the pickup/drop-off of students at stops along established routes. They may also transport students and teachers to special events, such as field trips and sporting events. School Bus Drivers are typically employed part-time during the school year, often working split shifts including mornings and afternoons. School Bus Drivers must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. The incumbent must ensure that their vehicles are operating properly each day by conducting testing and inspections. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies. The incumbent must keep track of the amount of fuel used, number of students transported, and kilometers driven, which typically report to their supervisor each week.

Job Duties:

  • Safely driving students to and from school, following a prescribed route, on a daily basis during the school year.
