Summary of Function:

The Funding Coordinator of Capital and Infrastructure plays a key role in securing and managing financial resources that support organizational programs, operations, and strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, preparing and submitting grant proposals and maintaining relationships with funding agencies. The Funding Coordinator will report to the General Manager, this role ensures compliance with all funding requirements, tracks reporting deadlines, and monitors the progress of funded projects to ensure accurate, timely documentation and communication. Through effective research, planning, and collaboration, the Funding Coordinator helps maximize funding potential and supports long-term financial sustainability.

Job Duties:

  • Research and identify funding opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality proposals, applications and supporting documents in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather the required information for funding applications and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for funders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with funders and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all funding agreements, including the management of budgets, deliverables, and reporting obligations.
  • Stay informed of trends, policy changes and best practices for funding strategies.
  • Create and maintain budget database.
  • Track funding requirements are fulfilled.
  • Assist/prepare funding reports.
  • Assist with project coordination when needed.
  • Other related duties.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English and French language.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience in Administrative or Clerical role is an asset.
  • Mi’gmaq and French knowledge is an asset.

Restorative Justice Coordinator

Summary of Function:

The Restorative Justice Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and raising awareness and participation on various Restorative Justice Projects/Programs in a manner that is culturally sensitive and effective.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain the restorative justice programs, such as the Alternative Measure Program for youths and adults, mediation, group circles, sentencing circles and group conferencing.
  • Negotiate and implement Alternative Measures Agreements with local and provincial law enforcement agencies as well as provincial justice service providers
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local and provincial law enforcement agencies, justice officials and other agencies, including LMG Directorates
  • Organize Justice Committee Meetings
  • Serve as a liaison between Restorative Justice Committee, law enforcement agencies and justice service providers
  • Manage all other related committees
  • Assist in preparing program budgets
  • Prepare funding application and reports

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum A. level or equivalent in Social Work, Community Development, Law or Criminology plus relevant training and experience in group development, counseling and/or advocacy
  • Must be able to take initiative with little supervision
  • Must possess good communication, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership and team building ability
  • Must possess proven ability to work with other agencies
  • Must possess proven ability to work with volunteers, other resource people and to facilitate community groups
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Must have both social and professional experience in First Nations Communities, preferably be able to communicate in Mi’gmaq language or willing to learn

The role of Family Group Conference Support Worker is integral in vision-building. This shift emphasizes viewing families not merely as problems but as valuable resources. It also entails moving from a reactive stance to a proactive one, from fault-finding to claiming responsibility, and from consultation to collaboration. The role encourages a shift from a professional-centered approach to one that involves everyone in the family. Instead of crisis management, the focus is on vision-building as a cohesive unit. This model aims to enhance family accountability by mobilizing the family system rather than relying solely on professional intervention.

Job Duties:

  • Facilitate Family Group Conferences: Lead and facilitate family meetings where decisions about the care and well-being of a child or family member are made.
  • Provide Guidance and Support: Offer guidance and support to families throughout the conference process, ensuring that they understand their roles and responsibilities, and helping them navigate any conflicts or challenges that may arise.
  • Develop and Implement Plans: Work with families to develop comprehensive plans that address their needs and goals, focusing on strengths and resources within the family system.
  • Advocate for Family Empowerment: Advocate for the empowerment of families by promoting their active participation in decision-making processes, encouraging them to take ownership of their situations, and fostering a sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Collaborate with Professionals: Collaborate with other professionals involved in the family’s case, such as social workers, counselors, and support services, to ensure coordinated and holistic support for the family.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Progress: Monitor the implementation of plans agreed upon during family conferences and evaluate their effectiveness in meeting the family’s goals and objectives. Provide ongoing support and guidance as needed to ensure the family’s continued progress and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Post Secondary education in Human Services or acceptable equivalent or related experience.
  • Understanding of Family Group Conference approach.
  • Understand the responsibility to promote culturally sensitive care of children.
  • Able to develop effective working relationships with families, young parents, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible, meaning working some evening and weekend when necessary.
  • Ability to implement programs, polices, and protocols.
  • Ability to plan and implement an effective conference with youth and their support.
  • Understand the challenges youth face generally and adolescent parents.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in written form, including effective use of computer software such as Microsoft and email.

Summary of Function:

Under the supervision of the Mawo’Itijig Mijjuaji’g Director, the Intervention Support Worker (ISW) is responsible for supporting the identified child during daily activities in the childcare setting. The ISW is a part of an integrated team and will provide early intervention support to one child experiencing developmental delays. The ISW is responsible for guiding and implementing developmentally appropriate programs that are strength based, child-centered and family-directed to maximize success. The location of work for the position is at the: Mawo’Itijig Mijjuaji’g childcare centre.

Job Duties:

  • Supervises, guides, and assists the child in daily activities.
  • Supports the child, through one-on-one intervention, to full inclusion.
  • Works as part of a larger integrated team of professionals.
  • Meets quarterly with Jordan’s Principle-Listuguj, the child’s family, and other resources to review goals and assess progress and make changes to supports where needed.
  • Submits progress reports to the Jordan’s Principle team quarterly.
  • Follows professional assessment recommendations (speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, pediatrician…etc.)
  • Plans, prepares, and implements daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with VIVA Therapeutic services.
  • Must follow the child to Head Start/AGS.

Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: College Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Educational Assistant (EA) and/or equivalent experience.
  • ASD training is mandatory.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ability to work well as both, part of an integrated team and independently.
  • Administrative requirements to be able to properly fill out observation forms and create a summary of child needs.
  • Experience working with children with special needs or willing to take training.

Social Intervener

Summary of Function:

The Social Intervener provides culturally grounded, trauma informed support, with a strong understanding of addictions and mental health. The intervener will offer clients individual and group sessions, workshops and educational sessions that promote healing and empowerment. This role involves creating partnerships with community resources and other relevant services to serve clients impacted by family violence, sexual violence and abusive behaviours.

Job Duties:

  • Provide one-on-one and group counselling for clients dealing with addictions and trauma
  • Deliver in-house and outreach support services
  • Makes referrals to other appropriate resources when needs are beyond the program’s resources or mandate; maintains a thorough knowledge of community; advocates for women on an as-needed or as-requested basis
  • Collaborate with other service providers to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach for client care
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and reports
  • Advocate for the needs of clients experiencing violence, addiction, or mental health challenges
  • Accompaniment and support as required or requested to attend important appointments (e.g. legal, medical, court, housing, etc.)
  • Conduct intakes and create safety planning
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the case plans. Attends case review sessions and reports on clients’ progress and discusses related concerns with the Manager and Team to resolve and identified problems to meet objectives set by the client
  • Collaborates with other team members regarding daily administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective operations and service delivery.
  • Ensures participants’ files and related record keeping are up-to-date, accurate and secure
  • Uses available communication tools (such as, communication log, cross over, forms emails, Outlook calendar etc.) to consistently to ensure continuity of service.
  • Participates in staff meetings, training programs and approved work-related workshops and seminars
  • Performs other related duties as required

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Social Work, Addictions or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in related field.
  • Experience working in the field of addictions and mental health.
  • Strong communication and intervention skills.
  • Strong organizational, oral/written communication and computer skills are required.
  • Communication and crisis intervention skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Summary of Function:

The Personal Care Worker (PCW) contributes an important role within the Waqatasg Nursing Program Team.  They are responsible for aiding with the daily routines to residents along with activities of daily living. The PCW will ensure that all services are provided in a caring and respectful way in keeping with all relevant policies and procedures. Work directly with all staff of the Waqatasg Nursing Program in the delivery of services identified within the client’s individual care plan and work directly with clients and family members to meet the needs in the plan.

Job Duties:

  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as tidying residents’ rooms and collecting the garbage, cleaning closets, hanging clothing, making beds, cleaning wash basins, dental care cups, etc.
  • Must be willing to do shift work.
  • Answer call bells and redirect when appropriate.  Provide items of comfort, sitting with residents/clients and having purposeful conversations, etc.
  • Assisting with the residents’ dining experience under the direction of the Nurse, including, but not limited to; Escort residents to and from dining areas and setting up and clearing tables, pouring beverages, and delivering meals to residents.
  • Assist and support resident programming such as, but not limited to; Recreational Programs, Visitation Program, Assist in the preparation and cleanup of activities rooms and visiting areas.

Medical Driver

Summary of Function:

The Medical Van Driver will be responsible for the safe delivery of patients to and from health facilities, and will ensure that the transportation vans are not being utilized for personal transport. The medical van driver will be responsible for completing a mileage driver’s sheet for each patient/escort and will submit the mileage sheet at the end of each shift for the month-end report. Other responsibilities will include communicating with the dispatch team and manager and this individual must ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Job Duties:

  • Operates a vehicle to transport clients to and from medical appointments in accordance with the scheduled developed by the Coordinator, Medical Transportation
  • Provides special attention to clients who, for medical reasons, require assistance from their homes to the vehicle, into the medical facility, and pick up as required.
  • Maintains  health  and safety standards  by disinfecting  the interior of the vehicle and cleaning the outside of the vehicle to ensure all lights, logos and license plates are visible.
  • Reports any irregularities in the operation of the vehicle to the Coordinator Medical  Transportation Program at the completion  of the shift work.
  • Reports any mechanical malfunctions or potentially hazardous conditions with the vehicle  to the Coordinator,  Medical Transportation Program immediately.
  • Prepares driving/client incident reports within seven (7) days of the incident.
  • Prepares/submits attendance records on a monthly basis
  • Submits LCHS Medical Taxi Attestation forms and expense sheets on a weekly basis.

Requirements:

  • Must hold or be capable of obtaining the following license classes through the Province of Quebec:Class 4A;  Class 4B; Class 4C License
  • Class 5 License
  • Must hold a current Certificate of Training for Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for the last five (5) years without suspension
  • Must not have a criminal driving offence in the last two (2) years
  • Must possess a current First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Must possess functional  knowledge of the English and Mi’gmaq Languages
  • Must provide Medical Check-Up documentation for driving purposes yearly for Personnel Records
  • Drug screening required

The function of the Early Childhood Educator, First Nation Head Start On-Reserve Program (FNHSOR) is to develop and deliver programming to young children to improve their social, physical and creative development to transition into a school setting. As an Early Childhood Educator, the incumbent is responsible for documenting children’s progress through the FNHSOR. The incumbent of this position has the authority to carry out the activities required to meet the goals and objectives of the operational plan for the FNHSOR. The authority of the incumbent will function within the parameters of the policies and procedures established by the Listuguj Community Health Services and Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government.

Job Duties:

  • Provide a safe and healthy environment for the children to play and learn both in the classroom and outdoor activities by maintaining health & safety standards;
  • Implement daily schedules/work activities based on the school work-plan;
  • Prepare materials (reading/craft) required for daily curriculum plan;
  • Prepare and address progress reports for child with the Coordinator, FNHSOR and the children’s parents;
  • Maintain traditional (Mi’gmaq language) and contemporary approaches to the delivery of programs and services to the children and their parents;
  • Assist with the delivery of other LCHS programs and activities, i.e. Annual Community Wellness Fair, etc.
  • Participate in the LCHS staff meetings;
  • Attend workshops and seminars as required/requested

Requirements:

  • Completion of a two-year college program in early childhood education
