Summary of Function:

The Scientific Research Labourer will report to the Team Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting the team with day-to-day activities. Duties include, but not limited to, boarding vessels for collecting data, cleaning debris, loading/off-loading heavy equipment, salmon fishing monitoring, local environmental monitoring, cleaning, and maintaining vehicles, and cleaning of working space (Natural Resource garage and storage yard)

 

Job duties:

  • Day-to-day duties follow to the science objectives outlined by management and LMG biologists on an annual basis, which include Smolt Wheel Operations, Salmon and Habitat Health Monitoring, Lobster sampling, or any research activities outlined in the Aboriginal Fisheries Strategy (AFS) Agreement or by LMG Fisheries Department.
  • Work schedules will change during season; Start-time and End-time subject to change based on research needs.
  • Outdoor and In-door working conditions.
  • Lifting heavy equipment over 100 pounds
  • Standing on feet for long periods of time
  • Travel outside of community to various sites within region
  • Travel outside cell-phone range
  • Willingness to participate in training

Requirements:

Position Summary:

The Communication Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the communication goals of the MMS by creating meaningful, clear, and engaging communications that reflect the voice and values of the Mi’gmaq Nation. This position helps connect leadership, citizens, and the wider public through storytelling, digital media, and strategic communication efforts that honor our traditions and build awareness around key initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute newsletters and updates that reflect the vision, actions, and priorities of MMS.
  • Manage and update content for the MMS website and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).
  • Create culturally sensitive and community-centered content including interviews, video scripts, and blog articles.
  • Assist in the planning and promotion of community engagement events, meetings, and public gatherings.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare summaries for leadership.
  • Maintain a media contact list and coordinate communications with regional partners and news outlets.
  • Ensure that all communication materials reflect the values, culture, and priorities of the Mi’gmaq Nation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field or
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in a communications, media, or public relations role.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with an understanding of Indigenous issues and perspectives.
  • Experience using digital platforms, CMS (like WordPress), and social media tools.
  • Familiarity with design software (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset.
  • Bilingual (Mi’gmaq/English or French/English) is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with respect for traditional knowledge and community processes.

The Surveyor/Engineering Technologist supports land and infrastructure surveying projects by assisting in data collection, measurements, and mapping activities. This role involves working closely with survey engineers and project teams to ensure accurate geospatial data for construction, land development, and infrastructure projects.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in conducting land and topographic surveys using GPS, and other surveying equipment.
  • Collect, record, and analyze field data to support engineering and construction projects.
  • Assist in preparing maps, drawings, and reports based on survey data.

AGS Receptionist

Summary of Function:

Under the supervision of the AGS Principal, and with direction from the Office Manager, the receptionist shall maintain a professional and courteous attitude to all visitors, guests and staff of AGS. The individual is accountable for efficiently and effectively managing the administration office area at AGS.

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide office support services to the Principal, Office Manager, and the AGS staff to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the AGS.
  • Greeting visitors who come into the offices and direct them to the appropriate staff or services and provide basic information when required.
  • Operate the Switchboard to answer, screen and forward telephone calls, take messages and provide basic information as required.
  • Make announcements as required.
  • Sort, stamp, copy and distribute in-coming mail to appropriate staff.
  • Support the tracking and inventory of educational materials received at AGS.
  • Route out-going mail to the proper delivery stream, i.e. courier, hand delivery or post office.
  • Maintain a daily incoming mail log to include date received, sent by whom, sent to whom, summary of contents, copies to whom.
  • Coordinate all outgoing and in-coming faxes to include program name, date sent, or received, name of sender or recipient, fax number.
  • Maintain a sign-in, sign-out of staff arrival and departure time, including meetings attended outside of office and expected time of return.
  • Under the direction of the Principal and/or Office Manager, maintain a daily log of staff arrival and departure time on field trips.
  • Support the maintaining of time sheets.
  • Support the Office Manager with receiving daily phone calls from staff and tracking sick time in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Order office supplies when needed.
  • Provide typing, photocopying, and faxing services when required.
  • Work collaboratively with Listuguj Education Administrative staff
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Mi’gmaq language would be an asset.
  • Three (3) years of direct work experience in a receptionist capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of general office procedures involving procurement, travel arrangements, budget management, and so on.
  • Proficient use of various office-based software including Microsoft Office 2007.
  • Able to write simple correspondence, including memos, letters, etc.

Summary of Function:

IT Technician is responsible for timely and effective resolutions to end-user productivity issues as they relate to IT-serviced computer operations. This will be accomplished by performing question/problem diagnoses, guiding users through to issue resolution, communicating technical solutions in user-friendly language, and conducting end-user training where necessary. IT Tech is also responsible for recording problems/solutions within the IT call-tracking system.

Job Duties:

· IT Technician will report to and assist the IT Manager in any and all IT matters being managed by the IT Manager

· Resolve end-user IT issues, such as password reset, software questions, PC hardware problems, Internet connectivity, configurations, and so on.

· Provide one-on-one end-user support and problem resolution via telephone, e-mail, and other vehicles of communication.

· Diagnose and resolve minor network issues (e.g. LAN access).

· Assist Network Specialist by troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues.

· Where necessary, assist network Specialist in installing network interface cards, hubs, switches, network cabling, and so on.

· Accurately log work orders/IT tickets and resolutions into IT management system software; maintain vigilant maintenance of this process.

· Prioritize work orders/IT tickets according to severity.

· Empower employees to find the tools to find IT solutions.

· Provide training to employees, teaching basic IT skills to minimize unnecessary tickets.

· Use IT log entries to pinpoint trends and trouble spots in order to conduct proactive maintenance or repairs.

· Assist IT Manager in detecting and identifying opportunities for improved processes, i.e., control and management of processes, through IT automation.

Summary of Function:

Reporting to the Youth Leadership Connections Peer Program Coordinator, the Support Worker will deliver culturally safe and trauma-informed frontline support to youth. This position emphasizes the expertise of individuals with Indigenous Cullturally relevant lived experiences and that utilizes empowerment techniques to support youth on their journey of healing or wellness. The Support Worker must see themselves as a role model to young people and will influence their lived experiences to relate to the challenges that youth face today. The Support Worker will lead youth engagement and ensure that all youth voices are recognized throughout the program.

Job Duties:

  • Provide assistance to Youth Connections Leadership Program Coordinator by applying rules, modeling positive behavior, and serving as a friend and mentor for young people
  • Report and take direction from the Youth “Connections” Leadership Program Coordinator
  • Oversee operations of workshops and activities, in collaboration with coordinator, including maintaining safety equipment, cleaning facilities, displaying appropriate signage, and operating a computer as necessary.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating recreational activities including games, physical fitness events, arts and crafts, and musical instruction on a daily basis.
  • Encourage youth to participate in activities and form healthy relationships by greeting and introducing new members, encouraging group activities, and providing oversight to ensure everyone is treated fairly.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, workshops, and outings
  • Assess group dynamics and collaborate with coordinator to create activities for desired outcomes such as relationship building, positive social interaction, and improved self-confidence.

Summary of Function:

Organization

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Development Centre (LMDC) is seeking to employ a Workshop Coordinator/ Employment Supports Counselor for the Pre Employment Supports program.  The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Development Centre aims to develop an independent, skilled Mi’gmaq Labour Force through employment and training initiatives by affirming Mi’gmaq values aimed to foster relationships with self, others and the environment.

 

Purpose of the Position

Under the supervision and guidance of the LMDC Director, the Workshop Coordinator/Employment Supports Counselor is responsible for educating clients regarding personal and professional development, social issues, vocational matters including career exploration and planning; make available to them a wide range of educational and occupational information and realize mentored work placements or continue their education. They are also responsible for the project budgeting and reporting.

 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and prepares delivery of workshops: life skills, Mi’gmaq culture, career research, post- secondary studies, etc.
  • Research and establish network of resources on educational programs, institutions and occupational information
  • Coordinate and monitor mentored work placements
  • Organize excursions and escort clients
  • Assist in the development of the structure, content and objectives of new programs.
  • Conduct evaluation on the progress of clients, programs and services delivered to make necessary improvements
  • Assists in completion of reporting requirements (quarterly and annually)
  • Work closely with the Community Services Worker to realize programming and objectives of the Pre-Employment Supports program

 

Requirements

  • Minimum diploma in counselling, career development, social sciences or human resources
  • Minimum of 3 year’s work experience in management and/or project coordination
  • Extensive knowledge of careers and career development
  • Understanding of employment and training in First Nations communities
  • Client focused and positive motivator
  • Strong organization skills, including job task planning
  • Competence in all Microsoft Office applications
