Summary of Function:

Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government requires a Night Guard who will be responsible for assisting with the overall security of Gignu Unit grounds. He/she is responsible for the safety of clients, employees, and property. The Night Guard must instill a strong sense of safety to all clients and employees within Gignu Unit. The Night Guard understands his/her position is a role model and provides experience to the public, clients and employees.

 

Job Duties:

  • Patrol interior of building to prevent and detect signs of damage that would compromise the security of windows and doors.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the clients.
  • Adhere to all policies and follow established procedures.
  • Write reports of irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in a relevant field or acceptable combination or 3 years’ experience and equivalent skills required.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Must be able to effectively follow and give directions.
  • Must have first aid and CPR certification.
  • Must be able to complete required paperwork to report abnormalities or incidents.

Summary of Function:

The Community Health Nurse/Home Care Nurse, the incumbent functions within the mandate for the LCHS Nursing Program to provide support for the prevention of disease and promotion of Health. The Community Health Nurse works to promote an integrated, holistic health service that is responsive to the needs of the clients. This includes services and/or activities in the following health areas:  Home & Community Care, Community Clinic, and Immunization Program. There is local travel required.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Community Public Health Programs and Services;
  • Develop and maintain good relations with outside health agencies; private Physicians and Public Health Agencies;
  • Participates in case conferences, LCHS Staff Meetings, and meetings relating specifically to the Nursing Program.
  • Provide Clinical Nursing services to community members in collaboration with LCHS Nursing staff, MD, NP and other health professionals.
  • Provide assistance to the Immunization Program with the execution of the program activities / requirements.
  • Assist with the delivery of other LCHS programs and activities, i.e. Annual Community Wellness Fair, Flu Clinics, etc.
  • Keeps current with new policies/procedures as indicated within their own professional expertise.
  • Completing and evaluating Multi-Clientele Assessment Tool (MCAT)
  • Responsible to provide comprehensive nursing care to clients and families as outlined through the Eligibility Review Committee (ERC)
  • Formulate and implement a plan for the nursing care function of clients
  • Support and advocate on behalf of client in accessing health services through external resources including placement process for long-term care
  • Provides teaching / counseling to individuals and families as related to the clients nursing care plan
  •  Provides teaching as required to direct service workers in relation to the client service plan
  • Adhere to reporting schedule for month end data reports for submission to the Home Care Data Base Entry Clerk and Nurse-In-Charge
  • Responsible for providing treatment services including wound care, medication administration and management, palliative care, specimen collection post operative care, etc.)
  • Responsible for providing in-home daily phlebotomy services to LCHS Home & Community Care clients

Summary of Function:

The Social Services Directorate is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and responsible candidate to work in a dynamic team environment, assist in carrying out activities with the community youth to develop and promote healthy lifestyles, and active living through sports and recreation. Job Duties:

  • Build Meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with the children and youth who attend the center and implement appreciative intervention strategies when deemed necessary (ie. Crisis intervention, problem-solving, etc.)
  • Lead programs in a positive and professional manner.
  • Monitors and engages in all programming (ie. Recreational, sports and leisure activities), while ensuring safety (ex. Providing supervision, responding to emergencies and/or providing first assistance when required.)

Summary of Function:

The Listuguj Community Social Services Directorate is looking for a clinical Psychologist who is passionate about their work and wishes to contribute to the health and well-being of our community. The incumbent will provide mental health services from a multi-sectoral/inter-agency approach to individuals, families, and groups. The Clinical Psychologist will offer direct psychological services including assessment and diagnostic services, as well as counseling and therapy to address psychological disorders and emotional distress, with a particular focus on culturally relevant and trauma-informed approaches that are sensitive to the specific needs of Listuguj community members. The incumbent should possess an abundance of knowledge and a keen interest in understanding Indigenous worldviews and history of the community of Listuguj.

 

Job duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose psychological conditions
  • Use a variety of clinical tests, interviews, and other tools to assess mental health
  • Offer crisis intervention and support for individuals experiencing immediate mental health challenges
  • Develop and implement therapeutic approaches that are respectful of and aligned with Mi’gmaq cultural beliefs, values, and traditions
  • Assess mental health conditions through interviews and psychological tests
  • Develop treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
  • Deliver counselling or therapy sessions, using a variety of therapeutic techniques
