Summary of Function:

Reporting to the Vice Principal of Special Education, the Early Childhood Interventionist/ Liaison provides support to children and youth with neurodiversity. The incumbent is responsible for providing a wide range of services to children and youth with neurodiversity, their families, agencies, and schools and other providers. The Early Childhood Interventionist/Liaison works collaboratively with the Methods and Resources Department, Listuguj Community Health Services, Listuguj Mawo’ltijig Child Care Center, and other Service Providers (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy) as well as providing support to other staff at the Alaqsite’w Gitpu School.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain a professional image and demeanor with all employees, management, executives and visitors at all times.
  • Work closely with children and youth with neurodiversity.
  • Deliver Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) tailored to individual student needs.
  • Establish learning goals for individual students with corresponding timeframes.
  • Create and use visual support as required to assist students in managing their daily activities.
  • Plan and enact behavior and health protocols.
  • Build and maintain relationships with families, schools, community organizations and government agencies.
  • Create and deliver teaching procedures corresponding to a student’s individual abilities, using methods appropriate to the established learning goals.
  • Assess students’ progress towards established learning goals.
  • Deliver social stories to students as needed.
  • Assist staff as required by resolving students’ behavioral issues, immediate and long term.
  • Explain teaching programs and students’ progress towards learning goals to student’s family members, agencies and colleagues.
  • Maintain user service confidentiality at all times, unless disclosure is specifically authorized.
  • Any other related duties assigned.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a role working with children, youth or adults with neurodiversity.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Current CPI certification or willing to take training.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or willing to take training.
  • Must provide a Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Strong understanding of all facets of neurodiversity.
  • Experience working with and managing difficult behavior.

Summary of Function:

Working with the Director of Education, the Associate Director of Education is responsible for the general supervision and management of the K-8 school, secondary and adult education. This includes counseling, registration, administration; and liaison with provincial schools serving Mi’gmaq learners.

Summary of Function:

Under the supervision of the Mawo’Itijig Mijjuaji’g Director, the Intervention Support Worker (ISW) is responsible for supporting the identified child during daily activities in the childcare setting. The ISW is a part of an integrated team and will provide early intervention support to one child experiencing developmental delays. The ISW is responsible for guiding and implementing developmentally appropriate programs that are strength based, child-centered and family-directed to maximize success. The location of work for the position is at the: Mawo’Itijig Mijjuaji’g childcare centre.

Job Duties:

  • Supervises, guides, and assists the child in daily activities.
  • Supports the child, through one-on-one intervention, to full inclusion.
  • Works as part of a larger integrated team of professionals.
  • Meets quarterly with Jordan’s Principle-Listuguj, the child’s family, and other resources to review goals and assess progress and make changes to supports where needed.
  • Submits progress reports to the Jordan’s Principle team quarterly.
  • Follows professional assessment recommendations (speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, pediatrician…etc.)
  • Plans, prepares, and implements daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: College Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Educational Assistant (EA) and/or equivalent experience.

They will have to encourage members to properly sort their waste (garbage, recycling, composting and eco-centre) and inform them of the services offered in the community as well as current concepts and movements aimed at reducing our impact on the environment.

Medical Driver

Summary of Function:

The Medical Van Driver will be responsible for the safe delivery of patients to and from health facilities and will ensure that the transportation vans are not being utilized for personal transport. The medical van driver will be responsible for completing a mileage driver’s sheet for each patient/escort and will submit the mileage sheet at the end of each shift for the month-end report. Other responsibilities will include communicating with the dispatch team and manager and this individual must ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Job Duties:

  • Operates a vehicle to transport clients to and from medical appointments in accordance with the scheduled developed by the Coordinator, Medical Transportation
  • Provides special attention to clients who, for medical reasons, require assistance from their homes to the vehicle, into the medical facility, and pick up as required.
  • Maintains health and safety standards by disinfecting the interior of the vehicle and cleaning the outside of the vehicle to ensure all lights, logos and license plates are visible.
  • Reports any irregularities in the operation of the vehicle to the Coordinator Medical Transportation Program at the completion of the shift work.
  • Reports any mechanical malfunctions or potentially hazardous conditions with the vehicle to the Coordinator, Medical Transportation Program immediately.
  • Prepares driving/client incident reports within seven (7) days of the incident.
  • Prepares/submits attendance records on a monthly basis
  • Submits LCHS Medical Taxi Attestation forms and expense sheets on a weekly basis.

Requirements:

  • Must hold or be capable of obtaining the following license classes through the Province of Quebec: Class 4A; Class 4B; Class 4C License
  • Class 5 License
  • Must hold a current Certificate of Training for Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for the last five (5) years without suspension
  • Must not have a criminal driving offence in the last two (2) years
  • Must possess a current First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Must possess functional knowledge of the English and Mi’gmaq Languages
  • Must provide Medical Check-Up documentation for driving purposes every six (6) months for Personnel Records
  • Drug screening required

Summer Youth Care Worker

Summary of Function:

Summer Youth Worker/s to design and deliver a cohesive summer recreation program involving organize sports and physical leisure activities for the youth and community members of the Listuguj First Nation under the direction and guidance of senior staff and administrators (i.e. Recreation staff and/or Youth Center Staff). The purpose of this position is to provide relevant work experience to the incumbent while furthering the programs of the Community Services Department, especially as they pertain to the promotion of recreation and sports as a path to healthy living amongst the Youth and community members.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the existing staff in promoting the importance of physical activity through sports, recreational and leisure activities by developing, organizing age and culturally appropriate summer programs and activities for youth.
  • Assist in the promotion of healthy lifestyles (such as healthy eating habits and positive behaviors) through role modeling of positive behaviors and effective planning and organizing of healthy living programs for youth.
  • Prepare a listing of items required each week for the Summer Camp, Drop-In Program, Sports Program and Leisure activities.
  • Supervise youth during planned/scheduled activities, and other recreational areas during sports and recreational activities and outdoor activities and out of community trips (when required).
  • Assist senior staff in dealing with crisis problems and behavior management.
  • Assist in preparation/production of recreational materials.
  • Assist in preparing the weekly program of activities for Youth.
  • Supervise and/or participate with youth in recreational and sport activities.
  • Work directly with youth in different settings where a senior staff member is not available.
  • Support youth in their participation in recreation and sport activities in the community.
  • With a senior staff’s direction and guidance, carry out some learning activities in the areas of recreation, sports, and healthy living instruction.
  • Prepare inventory of materials/supplies/sports equipment.

  • High school graduate
  • Must currently be registered in full-time study (university or college) and planning to return to school next year (studies in a related field would be considered an asset)

  • Experience in sports and recreational field would be considered an asset
