Summary of Function:

The School Bus Driver is responsible for the pickup/drop-off of students at stops along established routes. They may also transport students and teachers to special events, such as field trips and sporting events. School Bus Drivers are typically employed part-time during the school year, often working split shifts including mornings and afternoons. School Bus Drivers must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. The incumbent must ensure that their vehicles are operating properly each day by conducting testing and inspections. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies. The incumbent must keep track of the amount of fuel used, number of students transported, and kilometers driven, which typically report to their supervisor each week.

Job Duties:

  • Safely driving students to and from school, following a prescribed route, on a daily basis during the school year.
  • Performing daily vehicle safety inspections.
  • Communicating clearly and interacting with parents, school employees, passengers, co-workers and the public in a courteous, professional manner.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 21 years of age to hold a School Bus Driver’s License in Quebec.

  • Hold a valid (non-probationary) Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to pass a Ministry prescribed Medical Examination.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Summary of Function:

The Casual Relief Worker is responsible for working with the residents of the shelter, maintaining and ensuring the safety and security of the residents and establishment.  In addition to working with Residents, the Relief Worker may at times be involved in interventions via Crisis Calls as well as working with clients who present themselves at the shelter for support and/or advice.

Job Duties:

  • Is under the direct supervision of the Interim Director of Transformative Justice.
  • Ensure all assets and obligations of the LMG and Haven House are maintained, protected, and respected,
  • Attend meetings, training, conferences, and workshops as a representative of Haven House when requested or recommended
  • Assess the nature of all crisis calls and respond accordingly to policy and procedures

  • Participate and attend schedule trainings updating skills and knowledge in the field of family violence
  • Provide residential clients with instructions regarding procedures for the shelter’s evacuation and emergency plan
  • Provide support to clients with life skills regarding meal planning, menu making, budgeting, chores and overall household organization when deemed necessary

Summary of Function:

The Live-Seafood Delivery Driver will be responsible for the safe, and time-sensitive delivery of whole live scallops. Departing from Listuguj, and driving to various routes including, but not limited to, the Gaspe Coast and Quebec City. The driver must ensure the delivery schedule is honored, where rest breaks or fueling stops are pre-planned in the delivery schedule. They must also ensure seafood quality is maintained, which includes honoring the same-day delivery schedule, monitoring the truck refrigeration temperature, and avoiding any mishandling or tampering of the boxed product. They must also ensure vehicle and cargo are secure before leaving the vehicle unattended for deliveries, fueling, or rest. The vehicle cannot be used for personal use; and all relevant transportation laws must be respected. Other responsibilities will include communicating with the Business Development Advisor, Harvesting Team and the Associate Director of Natural Resources Fisheries and this individual must always ensure client confidentiality. A hotel and meal stipend will be provided.

Job Duties:

  • Operates a vehicle to transport whole live scallops to restaurants with the schedule developed by the Business Development Advisor.
  • Maintain a professional appearance (clean clothing and clean grooming) and ensure respectful and positive interactions with clients.
  • Must complete reporting requirements related to the chain of custody, daily operator log, delivery logistics, and other related reports.
  • Respect the relevant laws when operating the vehicle.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is met by respecting the delivery schedule or ensuring any changes to the schedule are communicated to customers to avoid issues.
  • Ensure product quality is maintained by monitoring and adjusting temperature is required by product; and maintaining a clean workspace.
  • Undergo training to understand the functional use of the vehicle, refrigeration system, delivery software, food quality requirements, and other training needs determined by the Natural Resources Department.
  • Plan inner-city routes to avoid traffic and construction when possible and plan long-distance travel to include stops and breaks.
  • Complete all reports outlines by Business Development Advisor.
  • Reports any irregularities in the operation of the vehicle to the Business Development Advisor concerning the completion of the shift work.
  • Report any mechanical malfunctions or potentially hazardous conditions with the vehicle to the Business Development Advisor immediately.
  • Bring the vehicle in for emergency repairs when on the route.
  • Prepares driving/client incident reports within seven (7) days of the incident.
  • Physical Demand: Each box weighs under 20 lbs. and may require hauling multiple boxes using a trolley.
  • Physical Demand: Long hours of driving.
  • Zero tolerance for under the influence of alcohol or drugs when operating vehicle.

Requirements:

  • Possess a Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Possess a Valid Driver’s License for the last five (5) years without suspension.
  • Must not have had a criminal driving offence in the last two (2) years.
  • Must possess functional knowledge of the English language.
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset.

Summary of Function:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Clinical and Family Services, the Article 32 Youth Protection Delegate will provide support, aid and counsel to youth faced with the need for emergency protective measures during the evaluation and orientation process.

Job Duties:

  • In accordance with Article 32 of the Youth Protection Act, ensures certain responsibilities with regards to children residing on Listuguj reserve territory, as stipulated by the Youth Protection Act, the Young Offenders Act, and legislation concerning adoption.
  • Assess a child’s situation and living conditions and decide whether the child’s security and development is in danger to decide the direction of a child.
  • Apply temporary, immediate protective measures required by the child’s situation.
  • Authorize in an emergency case, the provision of medical services and other care.
  • Prepare the application of voluntary measures or seize the court regarding the child’s situation.
  • Prepare evaluation and orientation reports and any other reports deemed necessary.
  • Appear in Youth Court when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Youth Protection of the CISSS in the implementation of services adapted to Listuguj clientele, as provided for in service agreements.
  • Collaborate in the analysis and processing of client complaints and suggest appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain the quality of services offered by the department.
  • Keep up-to-date administrative work and maintain administrative discipline.
  • Uphold a strong, effective and trust-based relationships by following through on commitments and respect of confidentiality.
  • Ensure departmental representation concerning the admission of youth with adjustment problems to rehabilitation centers.
  • At the request of the Associate Director, the Article 32 Youth Protection Delegate will assume any other tasks relevant to his/her responsibilities.

Summary of Function:

Under the supervision of the Vice Principal of Special Education, the Intervention Worker is responsible for assisting students who require on-going, long-term support through plans developed specifically for them by the Methods and Resources (M&R) team. The Intervention Worker may be called upon to work together with members of an individual student’s in-school team. While the composition of this team will vary according to the individual student’s needs, it typically consists of those people who are involved with the student on a daily basis at Alaqsite’w Gitpu School.

Job Duties:

· Maintain a professional image and demeanor with all employees, management, executives and visitors at all times.

· Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and/or settings.

· Initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions and positive behavior support as designated and demonstrated by the class teacher or M&R team.

· Assist individual students as necessary to follow routines, follow directions, follow an individual schedule, and/or complete tasks.

· Assist students requiring self-help skills in the areas of safety, eating and toileting.

· Accompany and supervise certain students during Physical Education, Mi’gmaq Language, Mi’gmaq Culture, French Language instruction, field trips, library, lunch, recess and during times of transition.

· Promote independence and employ strategies to recognize and reward achievement and self-reliance.

· Monitors effectiveness of workplace settings and reports to teacher, Vice Principal of Special Education and/or AGS Principal.

Requirements:

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Post-secondary courses in programs such as Autism Intervention, Early Childhood Development, Educational Assistant, Youth Worker, or equivalent post-secondary courses in a related area from a recognized institute and or related experience would be an asset.

· Strong knowledge of Mi’gmaq culture and community.

· Extensive knowledge and understanding of First Nation needs, issues, concerns and aspirations.

· Mi’gmaq/French language is considered an asset.

· Must provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
