Summary of Function:

The function of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to effectively deliver client care plans on behalf of LCHS Nursing and Home Care Programs.  This includes services and/or activities in the following health areas: Home Care Program, Community Clinic, Immunization Program, and the Diabetes Program. The LPN is Responsible for providing prevention and treatment services including wound care, medication management, foot care, palliative care, specimen collection, post operative care, etc., under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor.  Local travel is required.

Job Duties:

  • Utilize their clinical nursing skills to effectively deliver client care plans, i.e. wound management.
  • Monitor the clients’ care to ensure that the care plan is carried out according to the assessment and plan outlined by the Eligibility Review Committee (ERC).
  • Monitor the client’s mental health status, i.e. family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and report any concerns to the Home Care Nurse.
  • Report any change in the status of the clients’ health immediately to the Home Care Nurse or Nurse supervisor, including emergency services when deemed necessary.
  • Maintain accurate/detailed client records.
  • Submit client progress reports to the Home Care Nurse and Nurse Supervisor in accordance with the reporting schedule.
  • Adhere to reporting schedule for month end data reports for submission to the Home Care Data Base Entry Clerk.
  • Attend internal meetings such as LCHS Staff Meetings.
  • Provide medical services/treatment to community members on a rotational basis within the LCHS Community Clinic.
  • Provide assistance to the Immunization Program and the Diabetes team with the execution of the program activities/requirements.
  • Assist with the delivery of other LCHS programs and activities, i.e. Annual Community Wellness Fair, Flu Clinics, etc.
  • Install bed rails and set up beds in homes of clients where this is a necessity.

Requirements:

  • A License in good standing from the Ordre des Infirmieres et Infirmiers du Quebec (OIIQ).
  • Maintain current CPR Certificate.
  • Maintain Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
  • Bilingual is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Mi’gmaq Language and Culture.
  • Ability to lift heavy weights/incapacitated patients.
  • Repeated standing, walking, squatting, and running throughout a standard 8-hour shift.

Summary of Function:

The Chipper Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the chipping and debarking modules. The successful candidate will be responsible for moving wood through the three debarking modules. Constant wood-flow is maintained throughout the shift so that the chipping process is continuous.  Working closely with the Log Loader Operators, who are loading the debarking modules in a safe and efficient manner, is imperative. The Chipper Operator must have practical troubleshooting knowledge as well as a high level of attentiveness, mechanical aptitude and adaptability to changing conditions.

Job Duties:

  • Inspects the chipping and debarking modules, hydraulic pumps and motors, conveyors and hydraulic hoses, and general conditions.
  • Fill hydraulic fluid reservoirs or ensure that fluids are topped up.
  • Ensures the chipping module is operating properly.
  • Controls the speed of the logs traveling through the debarking modules.
  • Controls the movement of the logs being placed on the feed conveyors.
  • Constantly monitors the feed conveyors to ensure that debris is not present.
  • Monitors the chips being produced to ensure quality (meeting specifications).
  • Follows Lockout Procedures when repairs need to be performed.
  • Prepares a Lockout form as a necessary safety record.
  • Prepares a Downtime report at the end of the shift.
  • Replaces chipper knives at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Assists in large and small shutdowns regardless of the cause.
  • Assists in repairing the chipping and debarking modules as required.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Summary of Function:

Reporting to Lead Hand, the Log Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The LLO is a vital part of the LMG Chipper operation team. The LLO is responsible for maintaining a steady flow of wood going to the debarker/chipper throughout the shift. The LLO is responsible for loading and unloading logs in a safe and efficient manner. The LLO be able to operate a heavy log loader and shall possess a practical knowledge of operating other heavy equipment which may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, and other pieces of equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Operate hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
  • Ensures that the loader is in safe operating condition prior to the shift beginning (pre and post inspections to be performed).
  • Responsible to load logs on their trailer then unload the logs into the de-barker for chipping. Logs are taken from either the wood yard piles or from log trucks (as required).
  • Assists in changing the Chipper knives.
  • Assists in removing and repairing chipper discs.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries to the supervisor in a timely manner, to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and identification of defects in heavy-duty equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork. May include, but not limited to, vehicle inspection, hours of service, daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts.
  • Other tasks as required.
  • May be required to assist in the maintenance of machinery or equipment on short notice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must adhere to the policies, procedures, and regulations of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government, LMG Chipping, AV CELL and all other partners were deemed necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Certification, diploma, or degree in related field preferred i.e., Log Loader Operator.
  • Possess a valid drivers license.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate or equivalent (preferred)
  • Defensive Driving Course would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of truck and equipment safety.
  • Pre drug screening required.
  • Possession of Millwright skills would be an asset.

Summary of Function:

Summer Youth Worker/s to design and deliver a cohesive summer recreation program involving organize sports and physical leisure activities for the youth and community members of the Listuguj First Nation under the direction and guidance of senior staff and administrators (i.e. Recreation staff and/or Youth Center Staff). The purpose of this position is to provide relevant work experience to the incumbent while furthering the programs of the Community Services Department, especially as they pertain to the promotion of recreation and sports as a path to healthy living amongst the Youth and community members.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the existing staff in promoting the importance of physical activity through sports, recreational and leisure activities by developing, organizing age and culturally appropriate summer programs and activities for youth.
  • Assist in the promotion of healthy lifestyles (such as healthy eating habits and positive behaviors) through role modeling of positive behaviors and effective planning and organizing of healthy living programs for youth.
  • Prepare a listing of items required each week for the Summer Camp, Drop-In Program, Sports Program and Leisure activities.
  • Supervise youth during planned/scheduled activities, and other recreational areas during sports and recreational activities and outdoor activities and out of community trips (when required).
  • Assist senior staff in dealing with crisis problems and behavior management.

The function of the Listuguj Pow Wow Coordinator is to oversee the administrative and operational requirements for the Annual Listuguj Pow Wow.   As a representative of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government, the incumbent will be required to supervise, coordinate, negotiate and manage various individuals, groups and support services.  All with a view to portraying the cultural and spiritual significance of this annual event. 

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Pow Wow Committee to develop a comprehensive action plan and event budget.
  • Identify, secure, and manage donations and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Develop and document registration processes for dancers, drummers, craft vendors, and food vendors.
  • Coordinate and oversee key components of event planning and execution.

  • Research, recruit, and schedule Head Staff (e.g., Master of Ceremonies, Arena Director, dancers, drum groups).
  • Plan and execute fundraising initiatives.
  • Coordinate and schedule workshops and related programming.

  • Manage merchandise orders, including t-shirts.
  • Support cultural activities, including teaching and gathering traditional medicines.
  • Oversee event promotion through social media, print materials, and community outreach.
