Summary of Function:

The Scientific Research Labourer will report to the Team Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting the team with day-to-day activities. Duties include, but not limited to, boarding vessels for collecting data, cleaning debris, loading/off-loading heavy equipment, salmon fishing monitoring, local environmental monitoring, cleaning, and maintaining vehicles and equipment, and cleaning of working space (Natural Resource laboratory, garage and storage yard).

Job Duties:

  • Day-to-day duties follow the science objectives outlined by Science Manager on an annual basis, which include Smolt Wheel Operations, Salmon and Habitat Health Monitoring, Lobster sampling, or any research activities outlined in the Aboriginal Fisheries Strategy (AFS) Agreement or by LMG Fisheries Department.
  • Wetland monitoring assistance as required by research objectives.
  • Electrofishing surveying assistance as required by research objectives.
  • Lobster monitoring and biological surveys assistance as required by research objectives.

Summary of Function:

The Social Services Directorate is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and responsible candidate to work in a dynamic team environment, assist in carrying out activities with the community youth to develop and promote healthy lifestyles, and active living through sports and recreation. Act as a role model by demonstrating healthy lifestyles, healthy eating, and physical activity. Job Duties:

  • Build Meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with the children and youth who attend the center and implement appreciative intervention strategies when deemed necessary (i.e. Crisis intervention, problem-solving, etc.)
  • Lead programs in a positive and professional manner.
  • Monitors and engages in all programming (i.e. Recreational, sports and leisure activities), while ensuring safety (ex. Providing supervision, responding to emergencies and/or providing first assistance when required)
  • Participating in the evaluation and in documenting the progress of the Youth Centre Program
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas and common spaces (ex. Cleaning up after activities and placing items back in their rightful place, sanitizing equipment after use, etc.)
  • Maintaining consistency and structure by abiding to and enforcing Youth Centre regulations and expectations

Summary of Function:

Under the direction of the Chief Ranger, the Ranger Dispatcher is responsible for receiving distress calls and coordinating rapid response efforts for incidents on the water. They act as the central communication link between the public, rescue teams, and emergency agencies, ensuring fast, accurate, and effective emergency response. The Ranger Dispatcher provides administrative support services to the Listuguj Rangers and performs other related duties that may be required.

Job Duties:

  • Receiving telephone calls requiring Ranger interventions, obtaining essential information, and maintaining a log of each call, including who the call was assigned to.
  • Receiving calls from the Rangers requesting assistance from either; the Listuguj Police, the S.Q., DFO MEF etc.
  • Taking notes from the Rangers and transcribing them into proper format for memoranda, reports, etc.
  • Typing basic correspondence on own initiative or from brief verbal or written instructions; composing and typing routine correspondence and standard responses.
  • Submitting time sheets to the Administrative Assistant for Ranger and civilian staff.
  • Responding to a variety of matters on own initiative such as requests for data on fishing occurrence reports, etc. by retrieving information from files, preparing synopsis of file content, and typing accompanying letters for signature of the appropriate Ranger; posting bulletins and notices.
  • Checking and submitting daily activity reports of Rangers and submitting them to appropriate authorities.
  • Maintaining forms and files related to monthly reports, occurrence reports, activity report sheets; entering amendments to Ranger instructions, Ranger procedures manual, filing manual, by-laws, etc.; updating and entering disposition of all ongoing files, etc.
  • Maintaining an inventory of office supplies and equipment.
  • Participating in training programs or sessions which have been set up with a view to upgrading skills when assigned.

The Income Assistance Outreach Coordinator supports clients accessing Income Assistance programs and services. Job Duties:

  • Support clients with housing, food security, employment, education, training and mental health-related and addiction referrals.

Summary of Function:

Under the direction of the Gignu Manager, the Youth Clinical Programing Coordinator (YCPC) will provide support to the youth alongside the team of educators and function as a liaison to external service providers. The YCPC will assess the skills and clinical approach of the educators’ and will identify key areas of support that may require coaching or additional training. The YCPC will work to ensure a safe and rehabilitative process is provided to all youth.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with various professionals to ensure smooth and efficient client care
  • Build and maintain sustainable relationships with staff, management, volunteers, the community, clients, and families
  • Act as a liaison among staff and other stakeholders to ensure that goals are achieved, processes are improved, and resolutions are provided to problems.

Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary School Diploma or Degree in Social Work or a relevant field required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a supervisor capacity is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with cognitive and/or physical challenges in a community residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Environmental Awareness Worker-EcoNation

Summary of Function:

The EcoNation program is a network of Indigenous youth who want to protect the relationship that First Nations have had with the environment since time immemorial. By participating in the EcoNation program, candidates become agents of awareness for their community and will have to mobilize the population on subjects related to the protection of the environment. They will have to encourage members to properly sort their waste (garbage, recycling, composting, ecocentre and transfer site) and inform them of the services offered in the community.
A mandatory training by the FNLQSDI will be given in Québec city from June 8th to 12th. It will bring together all awareness agents registered in the EcoNation Program and address topics related to the environment, waste management and awareness. All expenses for this training are covered by the program.

Job Duties:

  • Promote waste management infrastructure in the community;
  • Create digital content to share tips and tricks to the community;
  • Manage one or more social networks (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.);
  • Create awareness tools for the community (games, posters, guide, leaflets, etc.);
  • Develop messages to be shared with the public through radio, newspapers and other means of communication;
  • Facilitate waste sorting at the pow wow and other special community events;

Summary of Function:

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is seeking a dedicated Fisheries Monitoring Coordinator to lead the development and implementation of NRD’s Community Fish Harvesting Monitoring Project. Monitoring community harvest is critical for understanding our relationship with the territory, contribute to community management of harvesting activities, and support community governance and self-determination. The coordinator role will help support the NRD develop the internal capacity to govern, manage, and monitor our communal fisheries, adopt best practices, and engage with community members to establish trust, support, and understanding of needs.This role is pivotal in transitioning from external oversight to a community-led monitoring system that aligns with Mi’gmaq values, community fishing Laws, and best practices.

Job Duties:

Phase 1: Research, Analysis & Planning (Year 1)

  • Capacity Assessment: Conduct comprehensive research into internal needs for dockside monitoring, at-sea observers, and Hail-In/Hail-Out systems.
  • Gap Analysis: Identify internal and external regulatory gaps and determine necessary training requirements and legal obligations.
  • Reporting: Develop a formal report detailing findings, methodologies, and tools required to implement a robust monitoring program.
  • Software Development: Source and manage a software developer to create a custom Hail-In/Out system and electronic logbook tailored to Listuguj fishers.
  • Community Engagement and Strategic Alignment: Ensure all monitoring efforts align with the community value system and community fishing Laws.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the Listuguj Rangers, Fisheries and Ocean Canada, and the Quebec Provincial government.

Phase 2: Capacity Building & Procurement (Year 2)

  • Recruitment: Lead the hiring process for fisheries monitors and at-sea observers.
  • Technical Setup: Manage the procurement of all physical monitoring equipment and the rollout of the custom electronic logbook system.
  • Standardization: Develop clear job descriptions, operational manuals, and roles/responsibilities for all monitoring personnel.

Phase 3: Implementation & Optimization (Year 3)

  • Pilot Launch: Implement a practicum and field-test the monitoring objectives.
  • Program Adaptation: Review program data and feedback to modify and improve the system as needed based on vessel count and species diversity.
  • Community Engagement and Training: Work with community members to workout technical issues and offer technical support.

Requirements:

  •  Post-Secondary Education related to administration management, project management, science, resource management, or related field considered an asset. Relevant training or on-job experience related to the position duties will also be considered.
  • Proven track record in project management or coordination, specifically within an Indigenous or communal enterprise context.
  • Deep understanding of Mi’gmaq values, treaty rights, and community realities. Familiarity with the Listuguj Lobster Law is a significant asset.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and ability to navigate software and hardware. Experience with data collection systems, electronic logbooks, or GIS would be considered an asset.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
