Annual salary: Between $48 321 and $68 776, according to FNEC’s salary scale

 

Work description

The FNEC is looking for a counsellor to ensure post-secondary project funding available to First Nations communities is effectively managed. The counsellor assists the communities in developing post-secondary training initiatives and program management policies. The counsellor also plays a key role in establishing and maintaining contact with post-secondary education coordinators and leaders in the communities, and supports the communities in strengthening partnerships with post-secondary institutions.

 

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in a field of specialization related to the position, particularly in education, and have at least five years of relevant Any combination of equivalent training and experience will be considered.
  • Fluency in one of Canada’s two official languages, and a very good understanding of the other official language.

 

Working conditions

Travel to all work zones is an integral part of this position, for a period of 48 hours or more, two times per month or more.

Job description

The FNEC is looking for a policy analyst to conduct research activities on rights  and  positions  defended by First Nations in relation to existing education legislation and policies at the international, national, regional and local level. The policy analyst’s studies and fact-finding reports contribute to clearly determining the directions and positions that best represent the interests of all member communities so that the FNEC can bring them to the attention of various decision-making bodies, committees and task forces.

 

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in social sciences, human sciences or law (preferably in a field related to education or First Nations), and at least five years of experience in a similar Any combination of equivalent training and experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in one of Canada’s two official languages and a very good understanding of the other.

 

Particular conditions

Some travelling is required to places that are easily accessible, no more than seven times a year and seldom exceeding a 48-hour stay. On rare occasions, one or two trips to remote areas may be required.

The National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA), is a federally registered not-for-profit organization that is Aboriginal-controlled, community-based, and membership-driven dedicated to raising professional capacity in First Nation land management.

 

NALMA is seeking an experienced and driven individual to fill the position of NALMA’s Finance and Administrative Support.

 

Position Summary:

The NALMA Finance and Administrative Support (FAS) will provide a high level of financial and administrative support services to the overall operations of NALMA Administration.

 

Under the immediate supervision of the Finance and Senior Officer and secondary supervision of the Executive Director and or designate the Finance and Administrative Support will:

  • Provide primary financial and administrative support
  • Perform a high level of administrative and secretarial duties
  • Organize priorities and maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Assist in carrying out of the goals and objectives of NALMA generally
  • Promote the role of NALMA and Regional Lands Associations (RLA) throughout Canada

Quebec-Labrador First Nations Youth Network

 

Permanent position: 35 hours a week
Immediate superior: Chief of Operations

 

Mission
Following a decision by the Chiefs, two representatives of First Nations youth, a young man and a young woman, now sit at the Table of Chiefs. Without exercising a right to vote, these two representatives are called upon to express themselves on all the issues dealt with by the Table of Chiefs. Youth representatives are elected by First Nations youth who attend an annual meeting of the Quebec-Labrador First Nations Youth Network.

The mission of the Quebec-Labrador First Nations Youth Network is to inform and support First Nations youth between the ages of 15 and 35 on opportunities (programs, services, projects, activities, events, employment, training, etc.) being offered to them. The main objective of the Network is to support the creation of youth committees in Aboriginal communities, to enable youth to develop a common voice and develop community wellness projects. It also aims to promote the civic participation of First Nations youth in their communities.

 

Job description

In keeping with the mission, orientations, values and general policies of the AFNQL, the Regional Youth Coordinator is called upon to:

  • Support the participation of First Nations youth representatives at the Table of Chiefs
  • Keep up-to-date, for the youth representatives at the Table of Chiefs, a schedule of meetings and activities related to issues concerning First Nations youth
  • Support communities and/or nations that wish to structure their work with youth
  • Conduct follow-up on matters concerning the First Nations Youth Network
  • Promote collaboration and consultation with youth among First Nations
  • Follow-up on commitments to youth in the context of the First Nations Socioeconomic Forum
  • Oversee the development of the Quebec-Labrador First Nations Youth Internet Portal and ensure its maintenance
  • Follow up and liaise with partners, governmental bodies or other organizations
  • Seek funding for and organize on an annual basis a youth summit and various projects, and follow-up on them
  • Organize and implement youth projects related to the Youth Action Strategy
  • Prepare grant applications and ensure follow-up on and completion of deliverables
  • Participate in government consultations related to First Nations youth
  • Perform related activities that respond to the requirements for ensuring completion of deliverables
  • Perform all other related tasks required by the AFNQL

 

Training and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and a minimum of three years of project management experience or a combination of relevant equivalent education and experience.

 

Prerequisites

  • Ability to communicate in both official languages, French and English, at a very advanced level
  • Writing ability
  • Knowledge of and experience with First Nations environments
  • Good knowledge of the network and structure of First Nations and of government networks
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Internet and e-mail
