Summary of Function:

The Mi’gmaw Language Revitalization Project Coordinator is responsible to manage and coordinate the development of a Listuguj Mi’gmaw Language Revitalization Strategy for the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government (LMG), through community engagement. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the development of the strategy’s implementation and evaluation plans.

The strategy could lead to the development of a Language & Culture Directorate/Unit, whose mandate will be Language revitalization, servicing all LMG Directorates/Sectors and the Community.

 

Job Duties:

  • Manage and develop Mi’gmaw Language strategic plans, in consultation with all LMG Directorates/Sectors and through engagement session with the community.
  • Determine the state of the Mi’gmaw Language in Listuguj and impacts.
  • Draft the Term of Reference for a Listuguj Mi’gmaq Language Council.
  • Consult with major partners in Language Revitalization throughout Mi’gma’gi.
  • Retain the services of a community engagement specialist, conduct community wide sessions for the development of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Revitalization Strategy.
  • Draft a 20-year Strategic Plan for the revitalization of Mi’gmaq Language in Listuguj.

Requirements:

  • Experienced understanding of project management and strategic planning theories, processes and practices
  • Strong understanding of current and contemporary language revitalization efforts, language loss, and language shifts
  • Is fluent in Mi’gmaq
  • Respect for ideas and language advise from Elders and language leaders
  • Knowledge and experience in community-based language revitalization and second language acquisition

Summary of Function:

The Finance Clerk will be responsible for managing Capital and Infrastructure accounts payable and maintaining appropriate financial documentation through an organized system of filing. Other responsibilities will include submitting monthly reports to accounting, making accurate monthly remittances, recording deposits to the General Ledger as well as processing payable cheques, providing assistance with annual audit working papers, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, updating the internal database and completing administrative duties related to the Capital and Infrastructure Department.

Job Duties:

  • Tracking Budget vs Expenditure for repairs and other projects.
  • Maintain accurate and updated record for the completed repairs requests.
  • Assist the Housing staff to track expenses for housing related projects and ensure we are within budget.
  • Keep accurate projects expenditures files.
  • Assist Construction Coordinators with purchase of materials.
  • Create, record and track purchase orders.
  • Process invoices and payment.
  • Ensure steady work flow between Capital department and Finance department.
  • Adhere to the finance policies and procedures and other policies within the LMG.
  • Other related duties in the Capital and Infrastructure Sector.

 

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English language.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience or training in finance is an asset.
  • Mi’gmaq and French knowledge is an asset.

Summary of Function:

Under the supervision of the School Principal, the English Elementary Teacher is responsible to teach students in order to bring about the goals, standards and objectives that are set forth by the department of Listuguj Education, Training and Employment.

Job Duties:

  • Design, teach and develop a general program for assigned grade level
  • Lead students in activities to promote their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development in both formal and informal settings
  • Evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students, parents and school officials
  • Create and develop a rapport with parents in order to meet the needs and ensure the wellbeing of the students
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
  • Engage a professional learning community focused on instructional excellence

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Mi’gmaq and French Language are an asset
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or Provincial Teaching Certification
