Summary of Function:

The Finance and Operations Supervisor will assist the LCSSD Director with the planning, assessment and management of the day-to-day administration and operational support necessary for the staff to deliver quality social programs and services to the community within their forecasted budgets.

 

Job Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with the Director in meeting the overall objectives of LCSSD;
  • Coordinate in the assistance of development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of LCSSD programs and services;
  • Executes decisions made by the Director and any related committee thereof;
  • Assists the development of annual budgets for all programs and services operating under the umbrella of LCSSD;
  • Coordinates the reporting schedules, monthly, quarterly and annually as per funding requirements; (i.e: ISC’s Assisted living; Foster Care, Maintenance of Institution and Income Assistance)
  • Assists in the development of funding proposals for additional social related programs and/or renewal of existing programs and services;
  • Acts within the parameters of Director of LCSSD, in the absence of and with written authority from the Director of LCSSD;

Requirements

  • University degree or College Diploma in a finance or an administrative discipline
  • 5 years or more of work experience in this field
  • Strong knowledge of the Human Resources and Administrative Policy Manual
  • Require knowledge and abilities to evaluate programs
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, reasoning and decision making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in the effective management of multiple Contribution/Funding agreements and their respective reporting requirements.

Technical Competencies

  • MS Office; including Outlook, Access, Word & Excel
  • Knowledge of Sage (ACCPAC)

Senvion is seeking candidates to join its team in the position of Service Technician.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site maintenance on wind turbine equipment in accordance with operations and maintenance manuals and training;
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of wind turbines;
  • Perform functional testing and analysis of electrical circuits;
  • Perform mechanical and electrical component repair or replacements of parts;
  • Collect turbine data for research or analysis;
  • Complete reports and paperwork as required;
  • Effectively and concisely communicate with other departments and explain findings;
  • Follow safety regulations and work procedures;
  • Perform all other duties as

Qualifications

  • Ability to work around low to medium voltage (< 600 volts);
  • Ability to read schematics;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance and electrical testing equipment for turbines, ma- chinery, or aviation;
  • Advanced computers skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, diagnostic tools and equipment;
  • Able to work overtime, holidays, weekends on short notice with ability to meet strict dead- lines;
  • Ability to work safely both independently and as a team with minimal supervision;
  • Valid drivers license;
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally;
  • Ability to climb 200+ foot wind towers on a daily basis and work in confined spaces as well as under all types of weather conditions for extended periods;
  • Ability to lift loads weighing up to 80 pounds ; tooling and different pieces;
  • HSE risk analysis capacity for the workers’ health in the work place and tower’s closed space, height and vacillating;
  • Be able to climb towers of up to 300 ft , daily, as well as working in confined spaces , noise, fumes from cleaning products , oil and fiber glass, in all types of weather conditions and for long hours;
  • Ability to work in a vacillating tower within 1 to 2 meters depending on wind

Education

  • 1 year college diploma in electrical, electromechanical, wind turbine technical field

Position Context:

Enrolment Services (ES) is recruiting an Indigenous Community Outreach Associate. A member of the Outreach, Recruitment and Communications team in ES, the Indigenous Community Outreach Associate reports to the Associate Director, Partnerships and Access and works with a Community Engagement Coordinator, Recruiters, and students. This team builds relationships with Indigenous communities and develops and delivers engagement and mentorship programming for primary and secondary school students, CEGEP students, and young adults; with a goal of increasing access to higher education for Indigenous youth.

 

The Indigenous Community Outreach Associate establishes contacts in organizations and schools that serve First Nations, Inuit, and Métis youth to identify and inspire pathways to higher education. The Indigenous Community Outreach Associate contributes to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of McGill’s outreach endeavours to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, including front-line outreach and recruitment activities (both on and off-campus), virtual outreach and recruitment (webinars, websites and social media), marketing and communication initiatives, and relationship building with internal and external partners.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Build relationships with Indigenous communities, schools, and organizations serving Indigenous youth.

As part of the Outreach team, develop mentorship programming in consultation with Indigenous communities, schools, and organizations that appeals to interests of, meets the needs of, and builds engagement with Indigenous youth.

Oversee logistics of outreach programming delivery, including supervision of student coordinators.

Participate in efforts to build collaboration within ES, and across faculties and units at McGill to streamline engagement with Indigenous communities, share best practices, and increase efficiency.

Develop opportunities for Indigenous youth to participate in research and mentorship projects on campus.

Prepare travel schedules and make travel arrangements; coordinate and manage events; complete visit/event reports and expense reports; ensure follow-up on issues raised during and after visits/events.

Contribute to recruitment and admissions of Indigenous students, in collaboration with the recruitment and admissions teams.

Present accurate information to program participants, future students, families, alumni, counsellors and government/industry professionals by keeping abreast of McGill’s undergraduate admissions policies, application procedures, program requirements, and student services.

In collaboration with Recruitment staff and graphic designers, contribute to the content, design, development and proofing of digital media and print advertising materials to effectively communicate with target audiences.

Contribute to the improvement of current initiatives and the development of new ones by evaluating and reporting on current activities and keeping abreast of best practices and emerging tools in the rapidly changing fields of outreach, recruitment, marketing, social media, and web design.

Ensure and assure appropriate inclusion of and sensitivity to Indigenous culture in all outreach activities.

 

Education/Experience:

DEC III

Three (3) years’ related experience OR

Undergraduate degree

One (1) year related experience

 

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Indigenous applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Written and oral communication skills in an Indigenous language an asset. Excellent communication skills (oral and written communication skills in English; written and oral communication skills in French, an asset). Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions and experience working with Indigenous communities and individuals. Excellent organizational skills and professional conduct. Student-focused and service-oriented. Proven experience working in an environment where confidentiality is foremost.

Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating discretion and judgement. Proven ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a team to build strong relationships with internal and external partners. Event planning and project management skills are assets. Experience working in a PC environment using databases, presentation software, MS Word, Excel, email, and internet search engines. Valid Quebec Driver’s license, Canadian passport.

Summary of Function:

The Communication and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of communication and promotion strategies for the Alaqsite’w Gitpu School, the First Nation Regional Adult Education Centre, the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Development Centre and other units of LETE.  In conjunction with the Associate Director of Education, the representative will also coordinate the growth of family engagement as a shared effort among families, schools and community leaders to advance programs, practices and policies that empower every parent to make their Mi’gmaq learner’s potential a reality.

 

Job Duties:

  • Assess characteristics of educational, training and employment services to be promoted and advise unit managers.
  • Advise unit managers on promotion strategies and information programs.
  • Develop and implement communication campaigns appropriate for print, radio and electronic media.
  • Gather, research and prepare communication material for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies and programs designed to inform learners, parents, all community employees and community members of initiatives and policies of the LETE.
  • Assist unit managers in the preparation of reports, briefs, speeches, presentations and press releases, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
  • Oversee website maintenance ensuring up to date content.
  • Assist in the preparation of brochures, newsletters and other material.

 

Requirements:

  • A university degree or college diploma in business marketing, public relations, communication or journalism is required.
  • Knowledge of Listuguj Education operations and/or experience in working with Indigenous educational systems.
  • Proficiency in various social media.
  • Complete proficiency in English language.
  • Proficiency in Mi’gmaq language and French language is an asset.
