The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government (LMG) has received a number of calls asking for clarification on mandatory weekly testing to access essential goods and services across the bridge (e.g. medical appointments, groceries, work, etc.).
Listuguj community members and residents CAN continue to cross for essential goods and services without a COVID test. If there are any changes to this measure, our government will inform community members and residents through the official LMG channels.
Chief and Council remain firm in their stance that mandatory weekly testing is invasive, and negotiations with the Government of New Brunswick and New Brunswick Public Health continue.
In the meantime, essential travel once a week is allowed without a COVID test. Also, the LMG is looking to organize information sessions related to privacy rights, which includes the protection of your medical history.
All households in Listuguj are required to fill out a form to register your address to update the civic address list. Once registered, you will have a chance to win 1 of 10 $100 gift cards from Kent.
The Capital & Infrastructure department are in the process of working on a housing communication initiative funded by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). Part of this program is to purchase civic numbers for all the housing units in our community. We plan on having them installed this summer. There will be an announcement on LMG’s website, Facebook and the local radio stations for the date we will start the installation process.
Starting Monday, March 1, applications will be available for the community at the following locations:
Friday, March 26th is the deadline to have your application submitted. If you have any questions please call (418)788-3022. If you fill out a digital application, you can email it to Lisa.Johnson@listuguj.ca.
After experiencing technical difficulties this morning, the emergency phone line at the Listuguj Police Department (LPD) is back on. This is a reminder that the LPD primary emergency number is 418-788-2003 and will be answered by police patrol members. The administrative line (non-emergency) is 418-788-2334 and is answered during business hours – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday – by civilian administrative members. It is important to have both numbers saved for quick access.
On February 24, 2021, Chief and Council had a duly convened meeting in Council Chambers. Included below are important updates from today’s meeting:
Minutes from the February 24, 2021 council meeting will be posted in the coming weeks.
Please note that the Community Kitchen will be implementing the following changes starting this week.
The community kitchen will now be open from 10 am – 12 pm for Elders aged 65 and up only and then from 1 pm – 4 pm for all other clients. This will allow for shorter wait times and decrease the traffic on food bank days.
In order to continue safely operating the community kitchen on a bi-weekly basis, the number of clients allowed in the waiting area is 10 people. Should you arrive at the community kitchen and the waiting area is full, please come back at a later time. With the cold weather, we do not want anyone waiting outside.
The community kitchen will be open on:
Thursday, February 25, 2021
10 am to noon – clients 65 and older only
1 pm to 4 pm – all other clients
Don’t forget to bring your own bags.
