Roof Construction – Please Use Back Entrance

The front door to the LMG Administration building will be blocked off today and tomorrow as construction continues on the roof. All employees and visitors must use the back entrance to enter the building.

Hydro Quebec In Community for Meter Reading

Please be advised that Hydro Québec meter readers will be in the community from July 26th to 30th, 2021. We are asking that community members please secure their pets during this time.

Traffic Advisory – Residential School Solidarity March

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government would like to advise all motorists that the JC Van Horne Bridge will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic this evening, July 2nd, starting at 5:15 p.m. (Atlantic Time) for the duration of the Residential School Solidarity March. Pedestrian traffic will be permitted.

As we continue to mourn the growing number of children being recovered from Indian Residential School sites across the country, Listugujewaq will march across the JC Van Horne Bridge to join our neighbors from Ugpi’ganjig and Campbellton for a ceremony on Salmon Blvd.

LMG and Medical Taxi closed July 1st

The LMG will be closed tomorrow, July 1st, for the statutory holiday. All administrative staff will have the day off.  Please note that operational staff such as front line workers will have a regular day’s work.

Also, the Medical Taxi will will be closed Thursday, July 1, 2021. If you have a medical appointment, please make sure to get a Medical Attestation along with your taxi receipts for reimbursement.

Community Notice – New Brunswick Moves to Phase II

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is pleased to share that our neighbours across the bridge have reached Phase II of their reopening plan.

What this means for Listuguj members and residents:

  • No new changes for Listuguj Members and Residents since the update provided on June 15, 2021.
  • Travel registration is still required. Listuguj members and residents should select one of the following options: ‘Avignon Twinning – Single Use’ or ‘Avignon Twinning – Multiple Use.’ For those registering for the multi-pass, you will receive a hanging window pass in the mail that will allow for quicker entry.
  • Listuguj members and residents may travel across the bridge as needed. Entry is no longer limited to essentials only, once per week.
  • Testing and isolation requirements are no longer required for Listuguj members and residents who stay within the twinning bubble.

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is pleased to announce the reopening of the ‘twinning bubble.’ Beginning June 16, 2021 at midnight (12:00 AM) Listuguj community members and residents will once again be able to reconnect with family and loved ones across Gespe’gewa’gi.

 

What this means for Listuguj members and residents:

  • Travel registration is still required. Listuguj members and residents should select one of the following options: ‘Avignon Twinning – Single Use’ or ‘Avignon Twinning – Multiple Use.’

Mental Health First Aid Training – LCCLI

The Listuguj Community Cultural Leadership Initiative (LCCLI) will be offering free mental health first aid training from June 17th to 18th for youth aged 19 to 25. Spots are limited. Must complete 2hr self-directed online training prior to live training.

Important Community Notice – Twinning Bubble is not open

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government would like to advise community members and residents that the ‘twinning bubble’ for our region is not open at this time.

Changes have been made to GNB’s online registration system. However, this is in anticipation of the eventual reopening of the twinning bubble.

The LMG will announce through our official channels once the twinning bubble is reopened.

Migwite’tm Swag Sneak Peek 2021

Here is a quick look at the swag bags that will be given away at Migwite’tm tomorrow June 11, 2021. They include a t-shirt, a water bottle, a face mask and stickers.

These will be available at the GMRC wharf at 10:00 a.m. and at the information table at the Powwow grounds after the walk. You need to register for the door prize to get one! See you tomorrow!

LCCLI Update

The Listuguj Community Cultural Leadership Initiative (LCCLI) launched this week. We’re excited for our young leaders as they embark on this new journey. Co-coordinators Macy Metallic & Emma Metallic have a great line of workshops, teachings and activities planned which will be shared/taught by leaders in our community. Wela’lieg to all the community members who have helped support the program to date.
