COVID-19 Update: Listuguj transitions to Green Alert Level 1

The Listuguj Unified Command has been working closely with Quebec Public Health in monitoring the ‘Active’ cases of COVID-19 here in the community. We have just passed the 14-day mark of Zero Active Cases and are confident that the wave of cases that began in early September has run its course for now.

Alert Level 1 – Green means Vigilance and requires Basic Measures:  Constant attention is required amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This level corresponds to weak community spread and requires that dictated basic measures are followed in all settings (physical distancing, respiratory etiquette, handwashing, etc.). Other measures may also apply to specific activities and settings.

Full-time compliance with basic measures:

  • Physical distancing,
  • Face covering,
  • Respiratory etiquette,
  • Handwashing,
  • Alternative greeting practices.

The Listuguj Unified Command will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 cases in our community to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.

Listuguj Remembrance Day Ceremony
 Announcement

In light of the recent spike in transmission rates of COVID-19 within the region, the Listuguj Veteran Memorial Committee (LVMC) have decided that it would be the community’s best interest to cancel the annual Remembrance Day event in Listuguj. The decision is in line with best practices and with the guidance from the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government Unified Command Center team and with the LVMC.

In its place, the Listuguj Veterans Memorial Committee will be honouring our Listuguj Veteran’s of past and present with a turkey dinner drive-thru, starting at 12:00 p.m. as a reminder to the community there are a limited number of meals available.

On November 11, drive up to the front of the AGS, and a turkey dinner with all its fixings including desert will be brought to you by our committee members and volunteers! We ask for those arriving to please remain in your vehicle, and we will serve you.

The event is open to all our Veterans and their family members and to the community members of Listuguj. As well, this event will be following COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

This event is graciously sponsored by the Natural Resources Directorate of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government and the meal will be catered by Krysten Barnaby.

We hope that next year we will return to our traditional services honouring the men and women who have served and continue to proudly serve in uniform with Canada and the United States.

Water Interruption and Precautionary Boil Water Advisory

Water Interruption and Precautionary Boil Water Advisory

Pacific Drive Water Shut-Off

Date: November 9th, 2021

Affected Areas:

  • Pacific Street from Lnu to Pacific.

On Tuesday November 9th, 2021, it is required to close existing water valves on Pacific Drive to isolate and install a new watermain connection as part of the new reservoir project. As a result, the water service at your residence will be affected. The water will be shut-off from approximately 8:00am to 6:00pm on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021.

As a protective measure, beginning Tuesday November 9th, at 8:00am, a precautionary boil water advisory will be placed in effect by Listuguj for the localized area (Pacific to Lnu). Please also note that the boil water advisory will remain in effect following the work and until further notice. During a boil water advisory, it is necessary to follow the following instructions:

** During a boil water advisory, it is important that all water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, making ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and dental hygiene be held at a rolling boil for 1 minute. Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe or wash using tap water but should avoid swallowing the water. Toddlers and infants should be sponged bathed and caregivers need to ensure no water is drunk or swallowed.  Dishes and laundry may be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine. **

Once normal operation resumes, it is recommended to circulate the water in your home for a period of 5 to 10 minutes.

We apologize for any inconvenience and request your cooperation in this matter while Listuguj continues to complete required upgrades to the water system that will ensure safe, clean drinking water for the residents of Listuguj.

Sincerely,

Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government
