COVID-19 Update – Holiday Plans

With the number of COVID-19 cases rising in the surrounding area, the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government urges all Listuguj residents to stay local this holiday season. Before making plans to shop or travel, please keep in mind that parts of the Bas Saint-Laurent region in Quebec are currently classified as red zones and should be avoided. These zones include cities such as Rimouski, Amqui and Matane. Visit the Quebec Alert Levels Map for more details.

It is important to note that the following guidelines remain in effect. Listuguj residents traveling overnight to ‘Red Zones’ for non-essential reasons will be required to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return. Listuguj residents traveling for essential purposes (i.e. work, medical appointments, custody arrangements, and necessities of life) are not required to self-isolate.

We ask that you please express kindness and support to those who must travel for essential reasons. We all have a role to play in protecting the health and safety of our community. This also includes our mental health.

Remember to always wear a mask in public, continue practicing social distancing, proper cough etiquette, and good hygiene practices.

Section of Caplin Road Temporary Closure

To maintain site safety and to allow the contractor to complete the work efficiently, it is required to close a short section of Caplin Road to all traffic, including residents and motorists/pedestrians going to and from the Alaqsite’w Gitpu School. The section of Caplin Road that will be closed for approximately one (1) day is located just south of the school from Civic #13 to Civic #5 on Caplin Road (see attached map).

Please note all traffic located North of the Alaqsite’w Gitpu School, will be required to access Caplin Road through either Interprovincial Boulevard or Militaij Street for the duration of the road closure.

The road closure is scheduled for December 2nd, 2020 and should be complete by end of day.

We recognize that the planned work will be an inconvenience, and your patience during these upgrades is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions concerning this subject, please feel free to contact us at the number below.

Sincerely,

Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government
