We are sad to report that the community garden was vandalized last night by a vehicle that drove over it repeatedly. Especially during this time of crisis, the community garden has the opportunity to thrive and become an important food source for Listugujewaq.
We are asking all community members to please respect this area and the hard work that goes into maintaining it.

Thursday, May 28, 2020, the Unified Command added additional measures at the checkpoints to protect the health and safety of Listuguj community members and its residents. These measures are necessary to protect against the growing spread of COVID-19 cases across the bridge, resulting from a confirmed travel-related case at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. As of Sunday, May 31, 2020 there are now 12 active cases in the Campbellton Region.
This is a reminder that until Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. the only authorized persons to enter Listuguj are:
– Registered Band Members;
– Listuguj Residents;
– LMG Essential Service Personnel;
– Food Distributors; and
– Emergency Vehicles.
These measures will be reassessed by the Unified Command on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
**Please note, food distributors delivering essential goods to local convenience stores have been added to the list of authorized personnel. Checkpoint supervisors have contacted store owners to coordinate these deliveries.
Update as of May 31, 2020:
Public Health officials have contacted all those who may have come into contact with the confirmed case. All those who were asymptomatic tested negative for COVID-19 at this time, but are required to continue monitoring for symptoms until their 14-day incubation period is over. As a result, New Brunswick has changed their testing process to test only those who present two or more symptoms at a given time and walk-in testing is no longer available.
If you are experiencing symptoms and would like to schedule an appointment to get tested, please contact your health care provider, the Listuguj Community Health Services (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), or the Quebec Hotline available 24/7, at 1 (877) 644-4545.

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government was informed of a structure fire behind the transfer station in Listuguj. The Emergency Management Coordinator was notified and quickly assembled the team of volunteers to prepare for possible evacuation of the highway. The Emergency Management Centre was set up at the Listuguj Community Development Centre (Bingo Hall) within 30 minutes, equipped with water and snacks, as well as masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant. SOPFEU were contacted and two water bombers arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire. 
The homes that may have been impacted by the fire were informed that evacuation may be required but luckily this was not necessary. The water bombers contained the fire and the Listuguj Fire Department are now checking the scene to ensure that there are no remaining embers. Everyone is safe.

The Unified Command is once again reminding residents of the importance of wearing a face mask where physical distancing (2m/6ft) is not possible, such as grocery stores, convenience stores, or when in public spaces.

Three recently confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Campbellton region are now established as travel-related cases. The newest case is an individual between 50 and 59 in Zone 5. The previous two confirmed cases include an individual over 90 and another individual under 19.
Public Health officials in New Brunswick are conducting an investigation into the newest confirmed cases and are performing contact tracing to determine any individuals who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
If you have come in direct contact with one of the confirmed cases, Public Health will contact you directly and will inform you of the process you must follow. If you are concerned that you may have been exposed, please contact 811 for further instructions.

Beginning Thursday, May 28, at 12:00 p.m. (today) until Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., the only persons authorized to enter Listuguj will be registered Listuguj band members, Listuguj residents, LMG essential service personnel, persons with special authorization letters, food distributors, as well as emergency vehicles. At this time, checkpoints will remain up until June 15, 2020. A reassessment will be done before June 15.
