Capital and Infrastructure would like to announce a temporary program to assist with costs of labour and repairs for applicants who do not currently qualify for the Repairs Policy. This is a one-time extraordinary measure that may be cancelled and is limited by our repairs budget and available resources. The Capital and Infrastructure’s housing department may provide assistance for either materials OR labour for projects of no more than $5,000. Homeowners will be solely responsible for providing oversight for the project and hiring the contractor or workers.
Elders’ repairs will be prioritized. Applicants will be served on a “first-come, first-serve” basis until limited budget is spent.
THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IS:
September 25th, 2020
To apply to this program, contact REPAIRS at 418-788-3022. You will need to describe the scope of the repairs. This program does NOT cover aesthetic work and is not applicable for applicants with arrears.
Capital and Infrastructure would like to remind the community that all household waste going in the LMG black bins must be in bags. Loose items in the bins will not be picked up. This is due to the temporary malfunction of the garbage truck.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community clean.

There will be a recycling bin inspection day on July 10th, 2020 starting at 9:00 A.M. For those with their recycling bins out on the curb, they will be rated on if everything in the bin is recyclable and if the bin is well positioned on the curb. Notes will be written down and placed on the doorknob if there is anything in the bin that doesn’t belong in the recycling. Items that are accepted in the recycling bin are as follows:
Non stretchable or metallic plastics are not accepted in the recycling bin. Spray cans, paint cans and any other household hazardous waste are not accepted in the recycling bin. However, if you need to dispose of them, they can be brought to the public works building where they will be disposed of properly. If you have any other questions about where to bring bulky waste or what is accepted in the recycling bin, contact Public Works at 418-788-3047.

As the warmer weather approaches, we realize a number of homeowners will begin making general repairs to their homes. To minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, contractors from outside of Listuguj will not be permitted entry into the community. However, this does not apply, if you are unable to find a contractor to suit your needs in the event of an emergency.
All community members are encouraged to find contract workers within Listuguj, to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19. If you require immediate repairs (i.e. emergency amenities like plumbing or electrical) and are unable to find a contractor within our own community hire as needed subcontractors from low risk areas within Quebec or New Brunswick.
When arranging for repair work on your own home, here are the steps we ask that you take:
As a result of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government closure, Public Works will be doing garbage pick up on Mondays and Thursdays only from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please try to reduce your curbside garbage during this time.
