On Monday, April 27, 2020, Quebec Premier François Legault announced that students will be returning to classes beginning May 11 in regions less impacted by COVID-19, outside of Montreal. The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government (LMG) has decided that it is in the best interest of students and staff to remain closed for the following reasons:
The health and safety of our community remains a top priority for the LMG. We are asking for community members, residents, and LMG employees to continue practicing social distancing and to limit outings when possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As always, the LMG will provide continuous updates as the pandemic unfolds. Please refer to the LMG website and social media pages for up-to-date information on Listuguj’s Response to COVID-19.
It is with great disappointment that we inform you that there has been a break-in at the food bank. Significant damage was done to the property and items were stolen. LPD are performing an investigation.
The Listuguj Community Kitchen will have one last distribution then will be closed until further notice. The last distribution is scheduled for today at 11:00 a.m. until all bags are distributed.
The Community Kitchen has set up a drive-in service. Tables will be set up outside the Listuguj Community Development Center. Simply drive up and our volunteers will hand you a bag of groceries. If you do not have access to a vehicle, please walk up to the tables, and we will give you a bag. Unfortunately, delivery will not be available at this time.
Please remember to practice social distancing and follow safety measures put in place.
The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government will be closed for an additional two weeks. Our government will reopen May 12th, 2020. This decision will be reassessed before the official return date and communicated to community members, staff, and public.
We are please to announce that the Breakfast Club of Canada and LMG Education have contributed food for families of Listuguj students who may be struggling during this time (Nursery to grade 12).
The Community Kitchen and education staff will prepare grocery bags, and begin delivery at 1:30 p.m. today.
