Work description

The FNEC is looking for a director general to disseminate and achieve the shared vision set out by FNEC – member communities, as well as the resulting mission. The incumbent provides leadership in the management of the organization’s resources to ensure its operations run efficiently and its mandate is fulfilled. The director meets this challenge by establishing appropriate governance an d management structures, policies and processes.

 

Requirements

The applicant must hold a master’s degree in administration, education or a related field, and  have  at least ten years of related experience in a managerial position.

 

Working conditions

Work is conducted during normal office hours from Monday to Friday; however, travelling for periods which may exceed 48 hours, twice a month, on average, or more, to various locations is  an essential part  of the job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Competent to perform all tasks in the cannabis cultivation process. Understands all aspects of marijuana cultivation including, cloning/planting, irrigation, nutrient management, plant maintenance, pest and pathogen controls and light cycles regulation for optimum plant growth and harvesting.

  • Advanced knowledge of ACMPR, Marijuana products, its approved uses.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all cultivation activities during medical marijuana processing, at all times, to result consistent quality marijuana products.
  • Conduct lot coding and tracking of individual marijuana plants and the resultant harvested bulk and finished marijuana products.
  • Responsible for sanitation of equipment and production areas, preparation and maintenance of nutrient reservoirs and irrigation system.
  • Assure all marijuana products are free from contamination risk at all processing stages right from propagation to final packaging.
  • Implement standard procedures that maximize equipment safety, sanitation practices, maintenance support and assure consistent quality product output.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements needed for premises and equipment used for cultivation, harvest, preparation, packaging, storage, infusion and sale of marijuana incidental are maintained in clean and sanitary conditions.
  • Monitor for Quality Control checks in order to ensure process and product Quality in line with site Quality Assurance team.
  • Perform safe and effective harvesting, trimming, drying and converting cannabis bulk product into high quality marijuana products.
  • Ensure that refuse and waste products are managed and destroyed as per the current approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain, check and review of Lot Production Record for each cannabis batch. Track and record clone, plant and product transfer across cultivation rooms and vault.
  • Oversee general facility maintenance of cultivation/production areas and apply problem-solving skills to overcome daily cultivation/production issues.
  • Maintains clean and tidy workspace and displays a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Collaborates with Production Supervisor in daily cultivation tasks, job training and review of cultivation staff work schedule and performance.
  • Collaborates with other department associates in all areas to improve process performance and safety.
  • Employ professional and clear communication practices to maintain a positive and progressive team atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Previous Health Canada Security Clearance and work experience with a Canadian Licensed Producer (LP) is considered as an asset.
  • Strong Agricultural background in a GAP and HACCP regulated environment, with proficiency in various cultivation and plant maintenance techniques.

Position Summary

The Research and Development Scientist/Technician will play an integral role in the production of high‑quality cannabis extracts in our Atholville facility. The Research and Development Scientist/Technician will be involved in the development and optimization of cannabis extraction processes and product formulations.

 

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of various techniques to characterize and identify biologically active components of cannabis, including but not limited to: supercritical CO2 extraction, ethanol extraction, short-path distillation, rotary evaporation, HPLC, GC, MS, and common techniques in organic chemistry.
  • Strong and current knowledge with logistics planning system (ERP) and other computer applications.
  • Follow complex instructions and formulae in the preparation of cannabis extracts and concentrates.
  • Knowledge of proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances and wastes.
  • Keep up to date with the latest scientific and technological advances in the field.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Lead Scientist to develop and maintain extraction processes by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Quality Control Technicians main role is to ensure that product produced by ZENABIS meets the company’s objectives for Purity, Quality, Security and meets both external and internal regulatory requirements. The Quality Control Technician will be required to co-ordinate with others where necessary, working to adapt/implement company policies and procedures both internally as per the ACMPR and with respect to Operations, Quality Assurance and Facility Security Protocols.

The Quality Control Technician will provide compliance and quality control guidance as well as support the grow team.  The incumbent will help to identify maintain the highest standard of safe and consistent cannabis product while ensuring all production areas are kept clean and sanitary.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform pH testing, moisture analysis and Water Activity analysis on samples during production
  • Perform pH calibration on each pH meter (4 and 7 buffers)
  • Perform physical/organoleptic analysis on in process and finished product
  • Maintain and manage samples and prepare lab analysis of finished product
  • Check plant temperatures during the production process
  • Maintain lab and equipment including sanitation
  • Ensures SOPs and all safety protocols are being followed
  • Run various QC tests including ATP monitoring on the equipment.

  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Research and remain up to date on regulatory and industry requirements and best practices.  Prepare and manage quality assurance documentation, ensuring SOPs and other internal documents reflect those requirements in terms that are clear, current and compliant.  Ensure records relating to production, packaging, sanitation, and inspection are retained and organized.

  • Understanding of biotechnology, molecular biology and genomics preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial plant cultivation including nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, etc. and harvesting/trimming, drying, curing etc.

  • Experience with automated environmental control software, programming, determining set points and monitoring practices.
