Important Message from Listuguj Health and Safety
Pleased be advised that certain respirators and face masks have recently been recalled by Health Canada. We encourage all community residents to read through these recalls carefully and inspect their masks accordingly.
The first recall is for KN95 respirators. The products in this recall do not all meet the minimum 95% filtration rate that is required. Do not use these masks in situations where a minimum 95% filtration rate is required (such as health care settings). A full list of products and manufacturers can be found here: https://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2020/73137a-eng.php
The second recall is for disposable masks that contain graphene or biomass graphene, which is reported to have antiviral and antibacterial properties. There is a potential that wearers could inhale graphene particles from some masks, which may pose health risks. While Health Canada continues their investigation, they are recommending that these masks not be used. Consult your health care provider if you have used graphene face masks and have health concerns, such as new or unexplained shortness of breath, discomfort or difficulty breathing.
