Summary of Function:
The Waqatasg Elder’s Care Facility is establishing an On-Call Employment Pool to provide staffing support in multiple entry-level positions. Successful candidates will be placed on an on-call list and contacted when shifts become available. Work assignments may vary across different departments within the facility, depending on operational needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible employment, skill-building, and the chance to contribute to community services.
Possible Assignments
- Kitchen Helper
- Custodian
- Custodian/Watchmen/Laundry (Night Shift)
- Laundry / Light Housekeeping
- Receptionist / Front Desk Support
- Other entry-level assignments as needed by LMG
Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- General Support Roles
- Performing general cleaning, sanitation, and housekeeping duties.
- Assisting in food preparation and kitchen support activities.
- Providing watchmen/security coverage, particularly during night shifts.
- Handling laundry services, including washing, drying, folding, and distribution.
- Ensuring a safe, clean environment for staff and community members.
- Receptionist/Front Desk Support
- Greeting and directing visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answering, screening, and forwarding phone calls.
- Responding to basic inquiries or directing clients to the appropriate staff.
- Handling mail, deliveries, and document distribution.
- Performing basic clerical tasks, including filing, photocopying, and data entry.
Qualifications
- No prior work experience required; training will be provided.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to accept varied assignments.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to health, safety, confidentiality, and client service standards.
- For receptionist assignments: basic communication, computer, and customer service skills are considered assets.
Employment Conditions
- This is an on-call, casual employment arrangement with no guaranteed hours.
- Employees will be paid at the entry-level wage rate for the classification of work assigned, in accordance with the LMG salary scale.
- On-call employees must be available on short notice and may be called for different types of assignments as needed.
