Summary of Function:

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government (LMG) is seeking an energetic and organized individual to join the Communications Department as a Media Journalist. The Media Journalist will be responsible for overseeing the creation and distribution of the LMG newsletter and producing engaging content across multiple platforms. This role includes developing written articles, video content, and online communications for print, web, podcasts and social media.

Job Duties:

• Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of communication materials designed to inform community members.
• Gather, research, and produce articles for the monthly newsletter. Distribute monthly newsletter in the community.
• Arrange and conduct interviews for both video and written content.
• Assist in planning, filming and editing video content for various platforms (social media, LMG website, podcasts and events.)
• Serve as an on-camera presence for video content, delivering information clearly and professionally across digital platforms as required.
• Capture photos and videos at events as required.
• Monitor social media platforms, respond to community inquiries and engage with audiences when needed.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in Public Relations, Media Relations, Marketing or Communications or relevant work experience is an asset.
• Must have adequate writing, communication, broadcasting, and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to conduct effective public relations.
• Must be willing to update training and knowledge required for the position.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
