Accountable to:     General Manager of Chipper Operations

 

Summary of Function:

The Janitor, under the direction of the General Manager, is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective cleaning of AV Cell Operations Buildings and its premises. They will be required to perform tasks such as vacuuming, dusting and disinfecting. The Janitor will be responsible for ensuring that their required tasks are completed thoroughly, on time, and with minimal supervision.

Job Duties:

  • Following the cleaning procedures, ensure to clean using proper disinfectants.
  • Clean areas, including waiting rooms, lobbies, office spaces and other designated areas.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms including toilets, sinks mirrors and floors
  • Remove trash and recycling
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas
  • Dust all furniture and fixtures
  • Clean, wash and disinfect drinking fountains
  • Report damages and acts of vandalism
  • Restock materials and supplies as needed
  • Make a note of the need for any equipment repairs
  • Complete logbooks as necessary
  • Any other related duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial experience.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to schedule and prioritize work.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • In accordance with LMG Policy, priority consideration will be given first to qualified Listuguj Mi’gmaq applicants, followed by qualified applicants from other First Nation communities, and then other qualified candidates.
