Summary of Function:
The Light Housekeeper/Laundry, under the supervision of the Manager is responsible to
ensure the maintenance of a clean facility and laundry services. The
Housekeeper/Laundry is expected to interact with patients and staff in a manner that is
consistent with the Core Values of Waqatasg.

Job Duties:
• Cleaning residents’ rooms and hallways daily including, washrooms, and
furnishings.
• Cleaning, sweeping, disinfecting, and dusting daily of all rooms within the facility.
• Performing thorough cleaning of all rooms on a rotating basis.
• Wiping and vacuuming facility furniture as necessary.
• Emptying waste containers and relining with plastic bags.
• Washing dining room walls and ceilings every six (6) months.
• Oversee resident personal clothing for quick turnaround/delivery.
• Maintain inventory of cleaned linens and staff uniforms in designated areas.
• To understand and adhere to all standards, policies, procedures of the facility.

Requirements:
• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in a housekeeping position would be
considered an asset.
• Must be available to work overtime as needed to complete all job duties, some
weekends.
• Must be available to work in the case of a emergency within Waqatasg.
• Pre-employment vulnerable sector check required.
• Knowledge of the Mi’gmaq Language and culture would be considered an asset.
