Summary of Function:
The Listuguj Community Social Services Directorate is looking for a clinical Psychologist who is passionate about their work and wishes to contribute to the health and well-being of our community. The incumbent will provide mental health services from a multi-sectoral/inter-agency approach to individuals, families, and groups. The Clinical Psychologist will offer direct psychological services including assessment and diagnostic services, as well as counseling and therapy to address psychological disorders and emotional distress, with a particular focus on culturally relevant and trauma-informed approaches that are sensitive to the specific needs of Listuguj community members. The incumbent should possess an abundance of knowledge and a keen interest in understanding Indigenous worldviews and history of the community of Listuguj.
Job duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose psychological conditions
- Use a variety of clinical tests, interviews, and other tools to assess mental health
- Offer crisis intervention and support for individuals experiencing immediate mental health challenges
- Develop and implement therapeutic approaches that are respectful of and aligned with Mi’gmaq cultural beliefs, values, and traditions
- Assess mental health conditions through interviews and psychological tests
- Develop treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
- Deliver counselling or therapy sessions, using a variety of therapeutic techniques
- Support clients in crisis and refer them to appropriate support systems
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, social workers, and community leaders
- Maintain case notes, reports, and other professional documentation
- Keep up with developments in psychology, particularly regarding culturally sensitive practices for Indigenous populations
- Required to provide services to clients of all ages (children/ adolescents/ adults)

Requirements:
- PhD in Clinical Psychology or gained Masters in Psychology prior to 2006
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the field
- Registered with Ordre des Psychologues du Québec
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Code of Ethic of Psychologists
- Proficiency in English
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Adherence to professional ethics principles and organization values
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government
- Knowledge of Mi’gmaq cultural dynamics and Indigenous worldviews
