Tourism

Vision

To provide visitors with a transformational Mi’gmaq experience by sharing our knowledge, culture, and history.

Mission

To enhance Listuguj’s capacity to offer new tourism opportunities that highlight Mi’gmaq culture and support the local economy.

Listuguj is situated in a key tourism corridor. Travelers often pass through our community on their way to the Gaspésie, the Maritimes, or the United States. In fact, Listuguj can be seen as the gateway to Mi’gma’gi, the land of the Mi’gmaq.

Tourism development has been identified by community members as a major priority for economic growth. There is strong interest in building cultural and eco-tourism experiences that allow visitors to connect with our lands and culture in a guided and respectful way. Listuguj is committed to ensuring that all tourism projects are sustainable and provide economic, social, and cultural benefits to the community.

In addition to the breathtaking natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, the Restigouche River, and the Bay of Chaleur, tourists will soon be able to enter Mi’gma’gi by making a stop in Listuguj to discover the rich history and vibrant culture of the Mi’gmaq people.

Chipper Operations

Mission Statement

LMG Chipping and Trucking is committed to delivering high-quality products and services, guided by Mi’gmaq values of responsibility, sharing, and interconnectedness.

About Us

LMG Chipping and Trucking is proudly operated by the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government. For decades, we’ve worked in partnership with AV Cell, located on traditional Listugujewaq territory. Over time, this relationship has grown into a successful and evolving business.

Our History

· 2003 – First five-year contract signed. LMG began producing 100,000 m³ of wood chips annually.

· 2009 – Second contract signed; production doubled to 200,000 m³. New equipment was purchased.

· 2014 – Third contract signed; production increased to 225,000 m³. Older equipment was replaced.

· 2015

o Hog Fuel Trucking: Launched in February after acquiring a turnkey operation (3 trucks, 2 chip trailers).

o Wood Yard Project: LMG began coordinating AV Cell’s wood yard operations in October.

These milestones reflect the skills, resources, and growing capacity of the Listugujewaq.

What We Do

Chipping Services

We process raw maple logs into high-quality wood chips used by AV Cell to produce cellulose. This cellulose is transformed into viscose staple fiber — a key component in rayon for the textile industry.

Trucking Services

Our trucking division transports bark from the chipping site to a storage area. AV Cell uses this material to generate electricity and steam to power the mill.
