Summary of Function:
The Methods and Resources Coordinator provides coordination, guidance, and day-to-day support for academic, behavioural, and inclusion education services across Alaqsite’w Gitpu School. This role supports the implementation of effective instructional practices, student interventions, and individualized programming for students with diverse learning and support needs. The M&R Coordinator works collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families, and school administration to promote student success, supports classroom practices, oversee targeted academic programs and interventions, and helps ensure the effective delivery of Methods and Resources services within AGS.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate, review, and support the development and maintenance of IEPs (academic, behavioral, modified programs).
- Ensure each IEP includes accurate baseline data, current measurable goals, clear accommodations and modifications, documented parent/guardian input.
- Assist Methods and Resource teachers with scheduling, facilitating, and documenting IEP meetings.
- Supervise and coordinator tutoring and academic reinforcement programs.
- Coordinating and supporting implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) program and provide instructional guidance.
- Troubleshoot program challenges related to scheduling, behavior, staffing, or instructional needs.
- Support transition planning for Grade 8 students preparing for high school.
- Support M&R to develop individualized academic intervention plans.
- Collaboratively design behavioural, academic, and social-emotional support plans.
- Support M&R teachers in developing and implementing individualized academic intervention plans.
- Administer and interpret academic assessments (screeners, literacy assessments).
- Analyze data to determine intervention effectiveness and recommend next steps.
- Coordinate referrals and liaise with relevant school staff for student requiring specialized intervention or assessment.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student needs, plans, and progress.
- Supervise EAs and IWs, providing direction, coaching, and oversight.
- Other related duties.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field is required.
- Certificate in Special Education or a related specialization is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in Special Education or a related educational setting.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector Check.
- In accordance with LMG Policy, priority consideration will be given first to qualified Listuguj Mi’gmaq applicants, followed by qualified applicants from other First Nation communities, and then other qualified candidates.
