Summary of Function:
Seeking an energetic, collaborative, lifelong learner to join our teaching staff in the recruiting language. Under the supervision of the AGS Principal, the French Immersion Teacher is responsible for teaching assigned students to meet subject outcomes, standards and objectives that are set forth by the Listuguj Education Directorate. The French Immersion Teacher will follow school rules, administrative directives and maintain such records as required for the operation of the school and the classification and promotion of the students.
Job Duties:
- Teach diligently and faithfully all subjects to be taught in the school, ensuring learning for all students.
- Use teaching methods, procedures, and techniques appropriate to the learners.
- Develop a general program for the Grade level assigned to him/her, which should include physical development, self-care, social and emotional development, and intellectual development.
- Attend all staff meetings and Parent/Teacher and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) team meetings.
- Supervise the students in the school and on school grounds in accordance with the schedule.
- Teach subjects using a First Nations lens aligned with the Mi’gmaq Education Standards

Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or Provincial Teaching Certificate.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Mi’gmaq culture and community.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of First Nation needs, issues, concerns, and aspirations.
- Advanced or superior competency in the French language is required.
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
- In accordance with LMG Policy, priority consideration will be given first to qualified Listuguj Mi’gmaq applicants, followed by qualified applicants from other First Nation communities, and then other qualified candidates.
