Summary of Function:
The Social Services Directorate is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and responsible candidate to co-develop, plan, and evaluate programs. Prepare activities/programs for the community youth to be delivered by staff of the Youth and Family Center and as well as Sports and Recreation.
Assist in carrying out activities with the community youth to develop and promote healthy lifestyles and active living. Provide guidance to the youth and staff and help develop self-esteem, self-confidence, and leadership skills. Work in collaboration with the Youth and Family Center Coordinator and Sports and Recreation Coordinator.
Job Duties:
- Assist in organizing and conducting training and capacity building programs for staff and ensure compliance.
- Supervise staff housed within the Youth and Family Center (i.e. Sports and Recreation) to ensure timely completion of assigned duties, ensure that all work is completed following established safe work practices and established organization policies, and offer guidance and team meetings when needed.
- Assist on preparing schedules for staff both fulltime and parttime/casual.
- Monitor performance of staff to ensure efficient functioning.
- Target youth needs, develop programs/workshops and identify resources
- Prepare scheduled programs for youth as delivered by Youth Care Workers and Sports and Recreation staff to ensure achievement of all program objectives within timeframe.
- Evaluate program activities and action plans, maintain statistics as well as reporting monthly to Community Services Manager.
- Monitor recreational, sports and leisure activities to ensure safety; provide supervision, emergency or first aid when required.
- Assist in the evaluation and in documenting the progress of programs being delivered within the Youth and Family Center
- Participate in developing short- and long – term plans for programs.

Requirements:
- Completion of a college or university program in child and youth care or human services.
- Certificate in child/youth worker in combination with work experience in related field may be accepted.
- Management skills.
- Must be able to schedule and prioritize work.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- First Aid skill and/or certificates are considered assets.
- Ability to pass a criminal/vulnerable background check.
