Title: Jordan’s Principle Program Assistant

Accountable to: Listuguj Education Directorate

Summary of Function:
The function of the Jordan’s Principle Program Assistant is to assist the Supervisor to ensure effective and efficient operations necessary for the Jordan’s Principal Program. The Jordan’s Principle Support Worker will utilize an integrative multi-disciplinary approach for youth with social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs to access services with the goal of improving positive outcomes for affected children/families within Listuguj while using a holistic cultural approach. There is some travel required.
Job Duties:
- Determine services and supports that would benefit the child;
- Support a child and family-centered approach to coordinating and connecting services using a holistic cultural approach.
- Work collaboratively with Jordan’s Principle team, Centre de Readaptation, CLSC and other service providers.
- Help with referrals for assessments to appropriate professional(s), or provide assessments (i.e. Ages & Stages Questionnaire);
- Screen, assess, develop, monitor and evaluate individualized service plans.
- Work proactively to identify children with unmet needs to facilitate early intervention and timely access to services and resources;

Requirements:
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or experience in the health field as a professional.
- Deep understanding of Aboriginal health issues and commitment to health and social justice.
- Knowledge of the Mi’gmaq Language and Culture within the Listuguj First Nation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to build relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to pass a criminal background/Vulnerable Sector check.
