Summary of Function:
Under the direction of the Economic Development Manager, the Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP) Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the CCP Coordinator with community participation, communication and overall plan implementation for the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Community Plan (LMCP). The CCP Assistant Coordinator will also be responsible for managing and executing clerical duties for the LMCP team.
As a part of the LMCP team, the CCP Assistant Coordinator will be a main resource for the community related to the comprehensive community planning process and will meet with community members to explain the project, offer support and answer questions. The CCP Assistant Coordinator will report to the CCP Coordinator and/or Planning Team. The CCP Assistant Coordinator will also share information on the project with the community through various methods (social media, radio, website, newsletters, etc.) and will work closely with the CCP Coordinator to provide managers and employees of the various departments of the LMG and Chief & Council with LMCP information.
Job Duties:
- Be a link between the community and the Planning Team.
- Encourage community participation in the LMCP re-validation process.
- Assist in gathering information from managers, employees and community members using a variety of tools and methods.
- Participate in the development of data collection tools (surveys, questionnaires) and maintain an information database.
- Assist in organizing meetings and interviews with community members.
- Attend and record minutes for Planning Team and work groups meetings.
- Assist with the monitoring and update of various communications tools (newsletters, radio announcements, print media, social media, phone calls, etc.).
- Maintain relations between the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Sustainable Development Institute (FNQLSDI) and the community.
- Manage administrative duties for the LMCP team, such as clerical work, submitting travel claims, note taking, ordering of promotional items, etc.

Requirements:
- Respect for Indigenous culture and willingness to learn.
- High level sensitivity to issues faced by Indigenous people.
- Working experience in marketing, and public relations; preference may be given to applicants with some relevant experience.
- Effective at public speaking and making presentations.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects at hand.
- Willing to work outside of the regular work-week schedule if required.
- Must possess professional etiquette when receiving phone inquiries and directs calls in an efficient and professional manner.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and transportation.
