SUMMARY:Listuguj Hills Community Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government would like to engage community members to obtain recommendations in regards to the future use of the “Busteed House”. \nIt is currently being proposed that the house be transformed into a place of healing. Some ideas proposed: \n\na place people with addictions can go to talk (a safe haven)\,\na place where elders and traditionalists who come to community for ceremony have a place to stay\, and/or\na place to make traditional medicine.\n\nThe purpose of this proposal would be to make this house\, which has had a long-standing negative stigma with our community\, a positive space for healing and well-being. \nOver the course of the last few years\, the grounds have been blessed more than once and traditional healing practices have been taking place on a regular basis. We wish to continue these activities to make the place that has been such a negative in our history a positive for our community moving forward. \nCurrently\, there have been some discussions of having funding dollars given to Listuguj to retrofit the building to our needs from the Ministère de la culture et des communications. We simply need a community supported plan to move forward. \nThis is just a preliminary idea. We wish to engage the community and gather your thoughts. \nThere will be a community meeting at the Elders Lodge on Saturday\, January 18th\, starting at 5:00 p.m. to give ideas and have a discussion. DESCRIPTION:The province of New Brunswick is proposing to establish the Restigouche River watershed as a provincial park.  As a result\, representatives from the Restigouche Wilderness Waterway will be in Listuguj on Tuesday\, January 14th\, to meet with our hunters and fishers.  You can get involved by joining the discussion at the Listuguj Community Development Centre (Bingo Hall) on January 14th starting at 5:00 p.m.  Although this is a targeted session for hunters and fishers\, all interested community members are encouraged to attend.

DESCRIPTION:The Listuguj Community Garden is organizing a Haunted Garden on October 30th. The Haunted Garden will be open from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for children and from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for teenagers and adults. They are located behind the Gignu Unit\, 4 Gef Street\, off of Glitaw Street.\n\n\n \n\n\nThey are looking for Halloween decorations to help make this the spookiest event in Listuguj. They will also accept old bed sheets or unwanted household items that can be modified to fit the Halloween theme. Donations can be dropped off at the Community Garden between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday or at the Youth Centre if the Community Garden is unattended.
