DESCRIPTION:On April 29\, 2015 the federal government approved a one-time compensation for the loss of use for the 5 parcels of land. Since then community members have been applying for their one time lump sum payment (Per Capita Distribution). \nThe five year deadline is soon approaching on June 19\, 2020. There remains a number of Listugujewaq (+18 years) who have not claimed their Per Capita Distribution amount. According to the terms of the settlement agreement\, the deadline to apply for these monies is June 19\, 2020. After this date\, all remaining funds will have been deemed forfeited. \nPlease note this deadline does not affect the minors at the time of the agreement. They are still encouraged to apply for their PCD once they turn 18. \nYou are encouraged to contact Felicia Mitchell by email at felicia.mitchell@listuguj.ca or by phone at 418-788-2136 to fill in your application prior to April 29\, 2020.

DESCRIPTION:The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is organizing a Spring Equinox community event to honour our women on March 21st.  We are asking the community to submit a hard copy picture of a woman they would like to see being honored.  The deadline to submit a photo is February 28th. \nPhotos can be dropped off at the Listuguj Community Development Centre (Bingo Hall)\, 42 Dundee Road.  All pictures will be returned. \nMore details about the Spring Equinox to follow.

SUMMARY:Listuguj Hills Community Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government would like to engage community members to obtain recommendations in regards to the future use of the “Busteed House”. \nIt is currently being proposed that the house be transformed into a place of healing. Some ideas proposed: \n\na place people with addictions can go to talk (a safe haven)\,\na place where elders and traditionalists who come to community for ceremony have a place to stay\, and/or\na place to make traditional medicine.\n\nThe purpose of this proposal would be to make this house\, which has had a long-standing negative stigma with our community\, a positive space for healing and well-being. \nOver the course of the last few years\, the grounds have been blessed more than once and traditional healing practices have been taking place on a regular basis. We wish to continue these activities to make the place that has been such a negative in our history a positive for our community moving forward. \nCurrently\, there have been some discussions of having funding dollars given to Listuguj to retrofit the building to our needs from the Ministère de la culture et des communications. We simply need a community supported plan to move forward. \nThis is just a preliminary idea. We wish to engage the community and gather your thoughts. \nThere will be a community meeting at the Elders Lodge on Saturday\, January 18th\, starting at 5:00 p.m. to give ideas and have a discussion. SUMMARY:Restigouche Wilderness Waterway Meeting with Hunters and Fishers
DESCRIPTION:The province of New Brunswick is proposing to establish the Restigouche River watershed as a provincial park.  As a result\, representatives from the Restigouche Wilderness Waterway will be in Listuguj on Tuesday\, January 14th\, to meet with our hunters and fishers.  You can get involved by joining the discussion at the Listuguj Community Development Centre (Bingo Hall) on January 14th starting at 5:00 p.m.  Although this is a targeted session for hunters and fishers\, all interested community members are encouraged to attend.
