Salary: Commensurate with Experience – Entry Level $26.13/hr.

Summary of Function:
This individual shall be responsible for the delivery of the educational and rehabilitation programs established in collaboration with the existing team at the Gignu Rehabilitation Center for the purpose of reintegrating the clients into society. He or she shall apply educational principles and techniques through everyday activities; coordinate and direct the Gignu’s scheduled program of activities in order to ensure the learning and acquisition of appropriate attitudes and behavior.

Job duties:
- Conducts individual and group counseling sessions.
- Deliver programs that promote healthy lifestyles and relationships for youths.
- Document daily activities and submit detailed reports on a regular basis.
- Promote and encourage each client to maintain an optimum level of health, well-being and self-esteem.
- Maintain and model appropriate personal boundaries with clients, and refrain from involvement with client personal affairs or other business that may constitute a conflict of interest.
- Support clients with problem solving, compatibility, and conflict resolution.
- Assist clients with all aspects of daily living, including but not limited to arranging appointments, transportation and accessing the community.
- Work co-operatively with the Day Planner where applicable and/or assist with planning and implementing community and in-house leisure activities.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- College diploma or university degree in related fields of work with one year of experience
- Knowledge of behavior modification strategies.
- Knowledge of the Mi’gmaq language and cultural dynamics of First Nation Communities.
- Possess a valid driver’s license/provide a driver’s abstract
- Pre-employment drug screening required
- Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sectors Check Required.
Work Conditions:
- Available to work 40 hours per week
- Shift work between the hours of 6:30am-11:00pm
